Which compact digital

[T40ORA]

Off out to buy a didgital photo mag today as the wife would like a compact camera for her birthday.

Any personal recommendations? She doesn't want anything mega sophisticated as we have a (to be uograded) EOS 300D. She wants ease of use, reasonable optical zoom, good quality photos, and light/small size.

I guess she is thinking of primarily using it for sking, where she can pop it into a jacket pocket, so is after convenience.

Strangely, for a woman, she doesn't want me to spend the Earth on here. Better check she's not ill....

TIA

I've got the Canon 860is. Brilliant camera and can take some really good shots. Wide angle lens is like marmite, on one hand I can fit loads in, but in real close ups you get some fish eye effect.

Probably get it for sub £150.
