Tall driver more comfortable in Elise of Mk1 MX-5?
Discussion
Just a quick question and I would appreciate an answer from people who have owned both if possible...
Is a taller driver more comfortable driving an Elise or Mk1 MX-5? My friend is tall and is thinking of getting an Elise but needs to know if he will fit, he has sat in my Mk1 MX-5 when I had it and thought it was okish but head was touching roof and knees around wheel.

It depends on a number of things: Is he long torso or long legs? Which model of Elise are you talking about? S2s are very comfortable but S1s, especially with leather seats (which most have), are famous for numb bum syndrome after extended periods at the wheel.
Really it's best to try them for size and see for himself as it's very much a personal issue.

I am 6'2" and fit fine in my S1 Elise. There is more headroom with the standard roof than the optional hardtop but even this isn't a problem at all. Numb bum definitely with the standard leather seats but much better with more padded 111S version - or spend some £'s and get MOG's carbon ones
which helps with leg/headroom...
which helps with leg/headroom...I'm 5'10 and I find the drivers side of an MX5 (Eunos) a little cramped compared to an S1 Elise. That said, I've only driven one, and that has a proper rollcage fitted which does limit the travel of the drivers seat to the rear a little. My Dad's 6'3 and a good 17 stone, and had no trouble with space in either of my S1 or S2 Elise's (once he was in that is).
