speaking to Dave and Chris from DC Trim in Blackpool. It's rare to find people so passionate and engaging about their work. I was also given a bit of a tour of the old factory, and heard a lot of good stories about days gone by!

I'm getting new carpets and the steering wheel recovered, but after seeing their portfolio of work, a Griff and Chim in progress, as well as seeing them working on a pair of cerb seats, I'll be getting the seats re-foamed and re-covered in cream and red two-tone later in the year. If truth be told, it was the missus that suggested it, but I did not take much convincing!

Also, on the way up there I managed to lose one of the headlamp surrounds on the M6, but a quick chat with Andy from Surface and Design, he poked around the workshop, found a replacment and will have it painted and fitted when I collect it next weekend.

Top blokes all round.

You must have been up there the same time as me, my Griff went to Surface and Design today to have a split roof made. Andy was telling me about your unfortunate incident, at least it will be sorted when you pick the car up.

I had a lovely run up from cloudy Essex leaving at 06:30 arriving in Sunny Blackpool around 11:00, didn't see any other TVR's until I pulled up outside Surface & Design !!! Seemed a shame to leave her up there with the sun shining and roof down, but life will be much easier with my new two part roof. Hoorah.

They all seem a friendly and helpful bunch at Surface and Design too.

Cheers

Hope you saw my Tuscan...I pick it up on Monday... I'm glad you're getting Cream (Leather I hope) 'cos I want my Cerbie seats in my Chim recovering and I want to see how good the match will be. I have contemplated driving up to Scotland in the Chim to buy the skins myself and make sure they match. I spend hours and hours with the lads in Bristol Avenue... mercifully they still put up with me.. hehe

PS Did you see the BMW M1 ??? and the Abbott tank ???

Glow worm - I did see your Tuscan up there, Dave pointed it out to me along with an Orange Sag that was in for it's third front end repair. So many goodies and trinkets to see in such short a time - it overloaded the auto-porn receptors in my brain!

Jonnyboy - I was parked at the back of the workshop, next to the rear end of an Ultima GTR, but my black Volvo was by the front door.
The split roof looks interesting, but having "golf caddy chim", I just need to get used to the technique of getting the roof panel in the boot. D&C are also making me a cover/bag for the roof panel whilst it's with them. The current roof is well past its best, but will be replaced in the next few weeks so the cover will help keep it in good nick.

This morning just reinforced the whole TVR community spirit that I'm seeing more and more of in my first 3 months of ownership.
