...Just standing up for my rights? After a mad evening, with no time to eat until I neared home at midnight, I decided a flame-grilled burger was a much more appealing option than cooking, and was seduced by the "drive-thru" signs of my local fast-food emporium. Silly me - "fast food" at 11.50pm obviously entails catching a cow, as it took ten minutes plus for the occupants of the car in front of me to be given their meal.

So, already seething (yes, I could have cooked a decent supper in that time), I ordered the wretched burger, handed over my money, to be told that they had no change. And that it didn't matter. WTF? Matter to whom? MY money, MY change. We're not talking about a lot of money. But it's my money, and as my Nan said time and time again; "look after the pennies and the pounds take care of themselves". So, I scratched through my purse, bag and car until I found the correct money, to be given the filthiest of looks. As though I were the one trying to short-change them!

I know a lot of people may think I'm being totally petty, but before you launch an attack, just consider this... How many other customers have been told the same story, and short-changed? The pennies turn into pounds very quickly, and this is the second time this has happened in a week. Has anyone else had a similar experience, and what are your thoughts?

Wrong Food
Wrong Change
st Service
Unintelligable Staff
All the usual stuff from any fast food monger.

fk-em I say. If you want quick ste food get one of those 'Rustlers' burgers and remove the hassle (and half the cost).

To be honest I sometimes hanker for an XL Bacon Double Cheeseburger but on at least 75% of my attempts to buy one I have just given up and walked away in frustration at the retarded service.

I agree, tight gits, they're too used to drunk yobs not bothering, customer service is customer service, no matter what time of night.

Has anyone also noticed that when the VAT dropped - the 99p burger became the 97p burger.....but has now slipped back up to 99p again without the VAT going back up...

small pennies, but lots of them make big pounds.

next time you get home late, dont get food from there.
eat something at home, proper crap, like cake etc, then eat something
healthy the next day to make up for it.
those places are full of low paid people that don't give two monkies,
i wouldn't either, just avoid them.

I have left long before the ten minutes were up.

Not that I'd be there in the first place. I'd sooner starve to death than eat that rubbish.

That's one of my gripes, when you re in that queue there is no way out, you can't abandon it and drive away.

Write to the head office of the chain concerned. Twice in a week does sound like a scam!

Smart cookie driving tip #37: When forming part of a queue, always leave enough space between you and the car in front to pull out.

It could be worth it.

Staff could be making up their wages...

And you might get some vouchers or something, you never know.

No, I'd be p***ed off if they said no change left. After all, it's not a charity...

The drive throughs here are single lane with curbs either side. Once you join the queue you are stuck in it until the end.

My thoughts exactly, what the fk is a place like that doing without change? They've still got to get through Sunday before the banks open on monday, sounds like a scam to me or a truly piss poor manager... Oh wait that could be a possibility hehe

I seem to recall that shops aren't *required* to give change, due to some ancient law that was never fixed?? Am I dreaming? Obviously, they'd go out of business fairly rapidly if they didn't give change so they all do, but still, what kind of crap law is that? frown
