Now I am sure there was a thread on this before but I can't find it. frown

My daughter is starting to get interested in coming out in the Indy, but what are the legalities of her using a 4 point harness/bucket seat etc? Her current booster is too wide for the fibreglass seat, and because the lap belts go over the seat sides she will submarine without one (might get the crotch point to sort that) . If I can't buy something to fit, can I make one out of one of those seat foam kits?

She trail fits height wise sitting on some loose padding. The base of the seat is 14" across and she is 115cm tall. Any ideas peeps?

my 7yo likes coming out in Daddys Tiger Supercat. Picked up up last year from school a few times and the local BIB who keeps a eye on the tts parking right outside the school came over for a chat. Said he liked the car and said nothing when she got into the car and I put my harness on her and made sure she was safely in the seat. I used nothing when she was in and would have not taken her out if I did feel it was unsafe or illegal with the need for booster seats in normal tin tops. and the BIB said nothing the twice I spoke to hi either

Your hand crafted version of booster may not be compliant with some regulation or other but if it is obvious you have made all possible efforts to meet the spirit of the rules I doubt you will meet any problems. If you can use the fifth strap then you really have covered all bases.

It seems while you are unlikey to get pulled if the sprog looks comfy and safe, if you are pulled you must still comply with the booster seat regs.

See thread here: http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid... about halfway down. Knew I'd seen it somwhere but couldn't remember the outcome.

As long as she is safely in. Plead ignorance if you ever get pulled.

Whilst they all look the same, I found only one style of Britax booster is narrow enough to fit my seats.

I just took the car to the local Halfords and asked them to try a few.

I used to use a cut down britax booster for my girl in my cobra FPSB, shes a lot bigger now, but the cut down jobby was also great for her because it gave her a better view of the road and surroundings.
