Its been a year since I last drove a XJ6 until yesterday when I spent a couple of hours wafting round in one. Its no where near as accomplished as my XJ8 but the whole experience just left me wanting one again. For me the XJ series cars are the epitome of waftiness.

So I am now seriously contemplating getting rid of the current Jag and spending the summer wafing round in a much older incarnation. £3K seems to get something reasonably tidy. I wouldnt want to use somethng mint as a daily driver. This Daimler Sovereing seems to tick the right boxes.

Very nice. I only found our recenthly they kept making them into the 90s with the V12 engine. Now that would be something...

There is a gorgeous late 80's one in the classifieds at the moment. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/987739.htm The V12's are just a bit too thirsty for me. If one came up with LPG fitted I would take a look though.

Go for a later B/C/D reg one. Build quality is much better - even though you could argue if any S111 has lasted this long it's a good 'un.

The V12s were produced up to 1991. The 1990 my and onwards had cats fitted which blunted the performance a bit but IIRC the bodies were galvanised on the last cars.

My first Jag was a Series 3. cloud9 Lovely cars for a bit of Classic wafting at the weekend but not really practical as everday drivers IMO.

I've got two SIII's at the moment, a 1980 V12 and a 1985 4.2 Sovereign. The build is a lot better on the later car and it suffers a lot less from electrical gremlins.

They're great. The 4.2 I use every day.
