The top one I started & don't care that it was locked, as such, but there was no nudity, no profanity & nothing overly offensive.
The second one had no nudity as such, no profanity & nothing overly offensive.
The third one had more nudity than the first two but no profanity & nothing overly offensive.
What's the difference between the three in the eyes of the pc mods?
No nudity in two but some guy with his nads hanging out in the third.
I'm very interested to know the reason for these continuing annoying locks on innocent & inoffensive threads because it's really starting to annoy me & I see no pattern or reason for most.

Inevitably the pictures will degenerate as the night go on, and so will the posts..
We really need to raise the standards in the Lounge to make it desirable to everyone that comes on here.

Yes I did read the thread about bare feet & yep that's turned out well, here's the last post made;

As you can see that thread's going really well.
As for the Kate Williams thread, I highly doubt there are any pictures of the delightful Miss Williams anywhere that you couldn't hang on the Popes dining room wall. As for the amount of people who may add "I would" to the thread, so what? It's the internet for goodness sake.
Why do you think you need to raise the standards in the Lounge to make it desirable to everyone that comes on here. This is probably the most popular car sight/forum in Britain, people are here because they like it as it is, or I should say was, without all the pc crap.
People come here for a laugh & do not want their favourite car forum policed by over zealous mods. If people come to an open car forum & are offended by a thread that is neither offensive or rude by any stretch of any normal persons imagination in the off topic part of the forum, then they are the problem & it is their chose to be there.
This over zealous pc crap is not only ruining our country but ruining the internet where people come to relax & get away from all the over zealous pc crap that they have to deal with every day.
Personally I'm not convinced that this hasn't got more to do with advertising on the site, or maybe even pressure from advertisers. I really hope this isn't the case & that PH has not turned into just another company worried more about revenue than the people who put it where it is today.
109 Bob, you need to realise that a good proportion of PH traffic comes from people in offices who contribute to the forums etc.
Most large corporations use web filtering software that relies on automated black lists of sites that are deemed to have content inappropriate for the office environment.
PH does not want to get on that black list for obvious reasons. The long standing view is that there are enough places on the web to get "FHM" style pictures that PH does not need to be one of them.
So, it is not being about "PC", it is about making sure that PH stays accessible from offices.

People like myself though are always having to watch our P's & Q's & having to be careful not to offend, which on the whole I think we do quite well with out having to be overly moderated, some corporate filtering software. If we can't post a picture of a fully clothed attractive young girl with a comment that simply states that "I would" then these company's filters are the problem & not us.
These company's filters are there in some cases because they don't want their employees surfing the net on their pound & are only ever going to become more stringent as time goes by. So where does it all end? Will we have to stop posting pics of powerful cars at some point, just in case these company's now decide they maybe classed as offensive by some liberal save the rain forest employee of theirs?
Maybe that's far fetched, but I can see that happening in the future. What would PH do then? It has to get to the stage at some point where PH has to make a stand & say, this has gone too far. But at the moment & over the last few weeks there isn't even any discretion over what may or may not be on or even near the thin dividing line. "Thread closed" is all we see.
I would hate to see people lose their access to PH while working & I understand how that would affect this site/forum but I honestly feel that PH needs to draw a line somewhere & stick to it. But at the moment this site just seems to be going in reverse, getting stricter & stricter with regards as to what can or cannot be posted with more thread closures & no end in sight as to where it all may end.
In my opinion PH has started on the slippery slope to over regulation & I for one will reach the stage where I'll go elsewhere because the forum will simply lose it's current appeal.

The first of those is that the mods should take the opportunity to comment on why the thread was closed. Then the posters can see the reason why.
The second is a bit more difficult: Mods often take a look at a thread and then have to make a judgement on whether the thread is adding any "value" to PH as a community. There are a good proportion of the threads in The Lounge that aren't. I would certainly place any threads that have pictures (whether dressed or not) with the comment of "I would" in the category of those that don't add value. That makes them prime candidates for closing - even though they may not have crossed the decency line...
So: threads may get locked, not for PC reasons but because they are not adding anything to what is fundamentally a car discussion site.

Yes, an explanation for thread closures would be a good thing. And ok, I see your point about the "I would" threads not adding any value but I do think people just take them for what they are which is just a giggle but yes, I get your point.
I don't really agree with your last statement though. Obviously this is fundamentally a car forum but surely the idea of places like the lounge is so that members can talk nonsense &/or about topics that are not remotely car related. I do think threads should not only be judged by their value in respect to being on a car forum but also by there entertainment value, whether funny, stupid or even annoyingly idiotic as all could be of value to some people.
And after all, I think a lot of the off topic posts are what have made this site/forum different & inviting to new members, I think stifling the lounge by over moderation is the wrong thing to do.
Which brings me nicely back to my original point. I do hope PH doesn't make the mistake of going down the over moderating road as I for one would hate to see PH lose it's appeal by over regulation, for what ever reason.

Right, this seems to be a recurring theme over the last two weeks and I for one am getting fairly tired about it so excuse my bluntness but many, far more eloquent answers seem to have fallen on deaf ears.We don't give a damn about the money, we don't care about revenues and we really couldn't give a s

PH is run by a very small team who are all proper car enthusiasts and care strongly about the site (Most of us were members long before we worked here).Currently there are 4 of who you are likely to see getting involved in the forums, Me and RacingPete who are the techies, Garlick the site manager and Stuart who is a Haymarket Director who looks after PH and Classic and Sportscar.
In addition to us we also have Chris Rosamond who is our editor, George B who writes the news for us and SiMan who looks after the classifieds.
That is all of us and we are not some big faceless corporation. You are welcome send us emails if you have any questions and if you pop along to any of the PH events you will probably meet most of us.

They are not Haymarket staff and are not paid for the work they do, they are simply respected long-term PHers who do it for the love of the site and in the main they are exactly the same team who looked after the moderation in Ted's days, working to the same rules. People in this thread haven taken time to answer my questions & concerns, which I am grateful for. They've explained a lot of things that I didn't know or understand in a helpful & constructive way.

Two thoughts:1) Why do you need to announce to the world "I would" - does it really add any value?
2) A large proportion of users have a nose at PH during the working day to have a break. Working in a professional environment, in an open plan office would leave me in a position where I may have to do some serious explaining as to why I was looking at women in their scanties...

Now I know more I understand why some decisions are taken, I still may not agree with them but I do understand them.
