as title, anyone know of a jeweller in the city who can size and supply a titanium wedding band, I can't handle wearing this heavy platinum jobbie any more! Cheers.

I would imagine most jewelers have titanium rings, i got one when i was married approx 7 years ago and most places had them for sale.

How about Platinum as a alternative to Titanium as a metal for a ring, a noble metal and look very similar to Titanium, but gets points for being worth more than Gold.

What about an inconel ring. It loses points for being worth less than platinum, but gains points for having a higher melting point and better corrosion resistance.

I can recommend these people; I'm wearing one of their rings now. (they do mail order too)

If you do get a titanium ring be aware that it will leave marks on lesser surfaces.

These include and not exclusively:

Your wife’s best china!
Drinking glasses
Gear knobs
Bathroom sinks

Palladium may be worth a look too, much lighter than platinum but has exactley the same properties. Its cheaper too!

Yep, even with tungsten most of our crockery, and the sink have chips! We bought through mail order, and got several sizes and just sent back the ones that didn't fit.

Interesting question...I was surprised to see that the raw material costs are so different...
Gold, $870 per oz
Silver, $12 per oz
Platinum, $1180 per oz

...Titanium, $10 per lb!

Its supposed to be getting hallmarked later this year which is why it is so cheap (although it used to be more expensive than platinum IIRC as it is more precious). When it does, then the value will rocket apparently.

The rings are a lot cheaper than gold or platinum. The missus was more than a little chuffed when i picked a titanium ring!

All, many thanks for the links/PMs, I have more than enough to go on now!

Traveller, I've been trying to wear a heavy 5mm Furrer Jacot Platinum ring for the past 2 years nearly, I managed to keep it on for 5 days before wanting to throw it into a furnace. I need something lightweight!

Cheers

Been wearing my fairly thick plat ring for a few years now. I know what you mean, it was very annoying for a while, but I have got used to it now.
