Mercedes 30 year anti-perforation warranty

Morning all. Has anyone ever claimed on this? I have a '98 SL and where the hood goes down onto the bodywork on the rear wings the paint is flaking away (in the same position on both sides) and water is starting to get underneath it and I have one or two small bubbles starting to come up. Obviously I want to attend to it and to do it in the most economical way. I wondered about the anti-perforation warranty. Would be particularly interested to hear if any other SL owners have had this happen? I hasten to add that my soft top was replaced with non-standard Mercedes fabric.
Over Christmas I had the bodywork on my 1999 completely restored at the expense of MBUK and my dealer who split the cost 50:50 between themselves.
My car had very minor corrosion on the inside lip of both front wheel arches, at the bottom of the rear wing behind one rear wheel arch, around the bootlock, at the trailing edge of the 'C' pillar on both sides of the hardtop and on the inner wing. The repair was carried out with new front wings although the rear wing and bootlock were just shot blasted. The total cost was £7.5k.
Mercedes will try to welch on its liabilities under the warranty and imposes an 8 year cut off. The warranty only covers corrosion from the inside out and not corrosion which results from paint chips, scratches or poor repairs.
I bought my car from the dealer in question and have had it serviced with them without regard to cost. The extent of the service history seems to be a big factor in determining whether they will meet all or part or none of the cost.

I was speaking to a guy who works in Mercedes parts the other day and asked him the criteria of claiming for bodywork, as i nearly bought a clk at auction with alot of corrosion. He seemed to think it had no age cut off point, as long as it has at least one main dealer stamp per year and you have owned it for over nine months.Not sure if its 100% but he seemed pretty sure about it.I know some one who had a 98 e class pretty well totally repainted under warranty but they had owned it from new. Hope this helps.
