Well well well Folk's, it seems like an eon since the GTW was last on the road. With Stoneleigh fast approaching I am reminded of my first ( and to date 'only' ) long haul outing in the GTW. I set out to create a fairly standard car originally and ended up with something totally unique and unfortunately fairly complicated, or at least, to complicated for the likes of me it would seem eek. Anyhow, the car is so nearly back on the road now that it hurts. There were three ingrediants that I found neccesary to acheive this feat; Money - we all know that without it the world will no longer rotate; Time - the most valuable modern commodity and although at the begining of each new day, all of us have have the same 24 hours available to do with as we please, some still maintain that others have more time than they do themselves rolleyes; Now here is the one that has surprised me - REASON yes. Now, you would think that getting the car that you had been working towards for 5 years back on the road after only having covered 500 mls in it before a wave of difficulties had fallen upon you would be reason enough wouldn't you but oh no nono, not me, I needed something more it would seem. As you all know Lucky P's X8 GTR has a new home down here on the South Coast with RustiEvo who, as it happens, lives only a stones throw from me! Rusti is a track stalwart and the possibility of having a fellow Ultima owner living near by that would not mind chuming up and attending track days both here and abroad on a regular bassis has made all the difference to my flailing attitude. The more I think about it, the better it seems. The South Coast, a couple of petrol heads and two BLACK Ultima's, it must be GTR O'clock. But seriously, after some time in the wilderness, I AM BACK!

Thanks.
Still no fuel gauge, they are for iron's and CanAm drivers.
Only kidding, iron's apparantly don't need them, something to do with prefering to dip their tanks eek

Rolling!, I can beat that, I have actually driven the thing!
It felt plenty quick but I put that down to not having had anything very special to drive for neigh on the last two years now.

More modifications have been carried out too; Better spec UJ's on the gear linkage, LED front indicators, front and rear anti roll bars, tinted side screens and headlamp covers, ali steering arms, one red and one blue ( I bet you can't guess which sides they are wink ), Toyo 888 tyres and nearly, so very nearly AP carbon/ceramic brake discs but I ran out of kwan so they will have to wait.

Well - there's a thing...

So you're back...and I spose I will have to put up with your insults...again!

If your bored and finished tinkering, you could always mosey over to mine and help me (galvanise me) push my project on! 5 years you say...the way things are going I'll be lucky to get it on the road before I retire!

You know what its like...on yer own....billy-no-mates... when your scratching yer head in the garage, thinking when it is EVER going to end!

Good luck old bean...and maybe I will trip up over you at Stoneleigh (Sunday)!

cheers

keith

Was aiming to be at Stoneleigh this year but not quite going to make it with the GTW I am sad to say although will be there in person on Monday along with Paul.B and another Wayne ( not a spare but always handy to have a back up yes )
Email is bust but you can contact me on; 07979264565 thumbup

Keithy,
I know how hard it is to keep up the enthusiasm but hang on in there Bud, it will be worth it I can assure you. As for lending a hand I am afraid I would not be much use physicaly as I did not actually build my own car although I am more than happy to talk about it for ever more bigmouth

The GTW is indeed very close to being seen out and about near you soon and I have LOTS of time to make up for since being rendered involuntarily absent.

Paul, it is good to talk as you well know wink, but I think that may possibly come to an abrupt end should you get your second GTR on the road before the GTW is once again mobile 'proper' hehe

Thanks Dave, I too am looking forward to catching up with your goodself and others. I really hope that we two can actually get our cars working and present at the same venue and cover some miles together, now that would be something to savour 'eh?
