In case anyone else knew Dan Bayes.

I don't know if there are any other guys on here that were friends with a guy called Dan from the Humnamby/Scarborough area, he was a member on here but wasn't a prolific poster, he was a petrol head through and through having owned a Clio V6 and Clio 197 (R26?).
Today was his funeral and despite being a pretty grounded chap not exactly over emotional I was actually in tears, Dan and I were only vague mates, but you have never met such a decent guy before in your life, he was sadly ill for a long time with Leukemia, it claimed him about a week ago. He was only 24/25, 2 years YOUNGER than me.
We used to chat on the internet (despite only living minutes away from each other) regularly, often when he was in hospital getting treatment, I can't think of one occasion of him moaning about his illness or the immense pain he must have suffered, he lived for his cars and finally managed to do a small tour of Europe visiting the Nurburgring and Monaco.
The service was great, he had so many friends the place was packed I think every chair was occupied and an upper gallery filled too, then his Mums speech came up and I really doubt there was a dry eye in the house, I can't imagine how bad it must be to bury a child.
However sad the whole occasion was however, one overriding feeling dominated the service and thoughts of all his friends and family. How lucky we were to have had Dan in our lives even if only for a small space of time, I hope there is something after death because that lad deserved it.
See you later mate.

Sorry to hear this sad news.
My mum had Leukemia but is now in remission and has been for about 10 years, which has been controlled by various tablets etc.
I can really feel for a family with a member suffering from Leukemia. It's not very nice at all watching a once strong person looking like a fragile china doll at times, looking like they that could break at any moment. ( writing that bit just bought a great big lump to my throat ).
The only consolation is that he is now at peace, no longer having to suffer and pain free. I'm sure his memory will live on.
RIP.
