For years i was in the "no way shorts can be worth that much, people who buy Assos are daft" camp, finally managed to chase everyone who owes me money for Le Mans up and so was feeling a little flush, you only live once and i might as well find out what the hype is about thinks me.

Biggest mistake ever - they are the comfiest things i have ever worn, I have no idea how i will wear anything other then stupidly priced Swiss shorts now. If you like the way your bank account looks, do not try Assos shorts - i dont care how skint i am, the boys downstairs will never forgive me if i go back to cheapo bibs - now all i need to is work out how to get them in team colours :/

I've worn Assos shorts for more than 15 years, last year I went to ride the devil ride and somehow forgot to pack any shorts. Luckily one of my mate had two pairs so i borrowed pair of enduro that where fairly new. Jeez the difference, could hardly sit down on the way home.

I've got 2 pairs of the latest F1.13 S5 bought at end of last season (126/pair :-)) before they went up to stupid stupid prices... full retail is well over 200 now.

I will say the older S2 are almost as good and still available for under 90

I too was amazingly sceptical but a friend told me they would be the best investment I ever made.

I have some F1 Mille bib shorts for the road, but was using some cheapy DHB bib tights over winter and was amazed at the difference.

Think I paid about £130 for mine which in hindsight was a fapping bargain and I wish I had bought 2 pairs!

Not tried the chamois cream yet though...

Last year I moved to the dark side (MTB) and bought some of those "grunge baggy shorts with a pair of lycra shorts which popper in dude" type things............... tried them twice now use the Assos F1 Milles and the others were worse than useless!

Hearing what you are all saying about cost I might check the costs out locally (Swiss Border is less than 50km away) and start an export/import business! idea :scratchin:

Don't you have to work in London, live inside the m25 and ride fixed to purchase Rapha?

Maybe! TBH the prices are scary, but their stuff is luverly. One of their sponsored riders lives round here and his kit looks very cool...

All I need a bit of sizing advice here re Assos as I want to try a pair and cannot find any in the local stores to try on sio will have to order on-line.

The question is how small do they come up? I'm 5' 9", 32 inch waist and about 38" to 40" chest. I'm thinking L is the right size as I hear they come up a little small.

Im 6'1 and about a 32 waist - dunno what chest size, whatever skinny bd is - and the medium is about right for me. The bib straps are a little tight over the shoulders when im standing about, but perfect when on the bike

Well I managed to find a shop here that had the Assos Mille bibs at a reasonable price. Big big mistake, they are simply the most comfortable shorts I have ever worn. There goes my bank balance smile
