Here's a thread a bit different to normal
I heard a guy (actually in Morpeth, Northumberland) singing the above song and it was apparently written and sung by Calum, who would appear to have died in 2006 if what I read on the www is correct (hope I haven't killed him off here).
Anyway I am trying to find either the words, music or a recording but so far, out out luck.
Anyone here happen to have any leads on it?
Cheers
Tony

This isn't the song about the R34 that holds the record for the fastest lap of Skye is it?

Could be, it should be listed under the Nissan Easy Listening section.
Found it on i_tunes, next question is, do I need an i_plod to play it or can i listen to it on me laptop or copy it to a minidisc as i-plods haven't reached down to my level of technology yet
Apparently he has died and it wasn't me.

I think this is what you are looking for, you can also buy the song on itunes for the princely sum of 79p

The islands are calling
Me back home again
And I long for the skyline of Skye

A lassie is waiting
My girl of the glen
‘Neath the beautiful skyline of Skye

I left her on springtime
Though I loved her so
The blue mountains whispered,
You’re foolish to go

As I sailed with the tide
Something died here inside
How I cried for the skyline of Skye

Did you know that Jimmy Shand was one of the top scrambles motorbike tuners of his day. He used to roar around Auchtermuchty on his tuned Norton Commando. You can never tell a book by its cover as they say. wink

Pete's sake -G- takes me back to when Armadale was a blip on Sky and we used to go across to Sky for a Sunday outing on (usually) a fishing boat .

Bloody hell! That must have been an exciting outing, Skye on a Sunday! Even the sheep weren't allowed to eat or move in those days! Unless they were going to the kirk that is!!
