Lactose free recipe ideas

Hello all,

The new Mrs. SVX is lactose intolerant to the point where I'm having to be really careful with what I'm cooking to check for any traces of dairy.

I was wondering if any of the food enthusiasts on here have any recommendations for recipes, especially desserts that are dairy free? Or experience with lactose free substitutes?
