6000CD volume strangeness...

Hi all. Second day of ownership of an 06 Focus with the 6000CD radio/cd player. Why does it always switch on with the volume at level 5, even when I turn the volume down to zero before switching it off? I can't find any clues in the owners manual. Any ideas chaps?

It's not the AVC setting thats causing it is it??

Doesn't seem to be. I've tried AVC at highest and lowest and it's made no difference...

Driving to work this morning, put the radio on and it blares at me at volume 5. Volume 3 was ample at the low speed through town!
