Hi, quick question for all you Bournemouth area types. Has anyone taken their Elise/Exige on the Sandbanks ferry and are there any ground clearance issues? I was thinking of the ramp down at Sandbanks side as I seem to remember that angling down somewhat and then the up of the ramp of the ferry.
Will be down that way next week and was thinking about taking a trip over to Studland Bay and onto Swanage.
Cheers.

Never had a problem with my S1 on standard suspension (although I had an adhesive frot number plate)

The more interesting route TO Swanage is the classic BoLOCs burger run

My 'liz is lower than standard and I have no problems. You may have a problem at a very low tide but I doubt it. That is not the point, why would you take the ferry when the drive around is superb? I think you will find that most of the bolocs will look at it this way, 20 min wait for the ferry or 35 min HOON!

Yep, it was fine with my Exige and also with the S1 Elise, which is lower than standard. They have recently re-done the slipways to make them wider and I have been over since they did that and it's ok still.

However...at Low Tide it does get more tricky, but you can get round it by driving diagonally across the dip (just make sure the cars around you can see what you're doing). We came back over from Studland a couple of weeks ago, it was low tide and we didn't get the angle quite right and scuffed the number plate.

But yeah, driving around is much more fun, especially now that the time of year has come where you will be sat in a queue for over an hour at really busy times.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Sounds like the sensible thing to do is take a nice hoon around the outside of Poole Harbour! Now I also know the route of your infamous burger runs that I've seen so many references to down the years!
Might see a few of you on the roads between Highcliffe and Wareham next week? wavey

Er I think so, I've done it a couple of times, once was with SELOC.
