Think my pals all enjoyed it, well most of them. One came 16th overall, two went out, and the other three finished, just. Thats one of them being overtaken im pretty sure in the above youtube video. Wish i could have gone up, wee brother hasnt shut up since coming home. He was servicing all weekend and by the sounds of it had a good time.

Posted this on the hills and sprints site. Posting it here as I think there are issues which need addressed:
I hate to do this really, especially when I appreciate how much work goes into running an event like this but, for spectators, I thought the organisation was abysmal.
The website contained precious little information of how to find the spectator car parks and the few outlets the programmes were available from, most folk who work 9-5 would be unable to visit. I understand there's money to be made from selling programmes but some grid references on the website would've helped a great deal.
Armed with a road map, what directions there were from the website and a rough knowledge of where to go, my friends and I set off. In their words, it was only because I'd been before that we found the place. (stage five). We actually arrived at the road at the end of stage 2 where the marshal hadn't a clue how to direct us to stage 5.
Some small sign posts, those little orange arrows, would have helped immeasurably. Cost: probably less than 50quid for a whole stash of them to cover the whole event.
We followed a couple of guys (who were, in turn following someone else - etc: there were six cars in the chain) and made it to the 'car park'.
3 quid handed over: to creep down a forest road where folk had been left to abandon their cars wherever they wanted: passing 'parked' cars wasn't easy as pedestrians wandered about too. Two marshals to hand out programmes at two different locations: using two of them to help park cars would've helped no end.
Why cars weren't sent to the end of the parking area to then back fill it I'm not sure.
One other gripe and one, judging by how many times cars had to use horns through the stage, the teams will agree with: spectators wandering up the middle of the stage between cars. If you feel the need to move position during a stage, fine, but keep to the sides! And get out of the way when you hear a car, don't think: 'oh, here comes a subaru at nigh on 80mph. Instead of getting out of its way, I'll wait til it's almost in my mouth before I climb the verge.'
I don't know how you sort that problem, but if someone gets run down mid-stage, surely that's a serious issue for ADMC?
We got a decent spot once in though and saw some really good action.

Also on the £3 entry the money raised from that did not go to the rally organizers it went to the Stonehaven Sea Cadets, who are a charitable organization. The Granite city rally is one of their main sources of income after street collections etc.
I believe that they made nearly £900 this year, so thank you to all who came to the rally your £3 will have made a huge difference to the unit!

Hey Graham ,long time no see! good to see you out racing again.
My v-10 was sold a couple of years ago ,now got a giant reign all mountain sort of bike thats very rarely used!(first non santacruzbike i've had for years)
Also as an ADMC commitee member (although not really involved in the Granite) i have to say that Roy has made some very good points, most of the problems come down to lack of volunteers, although i do agree that more info should be available for the spectators.
