Anyone up to anything to celebrate? It's still pretty low key here, but we are having a "Mediaeval Banquet" at work, which should mean lashings of beef at least! lick

How embarassing that I hadn't realised frown

Or perhaps more embarassing that as a nation, so little effort is made to recognise it?

Oustsanding effort. Not sure it will get a mention here at work but I'm going to party in my head and wish all and sundry Happy St Georges Day...

As is usual most people won't have a fking clue what day it is.

My kids are getting dressed up in knights/princess outfit.

Other than that nothing really.

It is sad that this nation does not truly recognise St Georges day.

But then again after yesterdays budget where I am worse off, who wants to?

Other than Ireland's annual Guinness promotion, most countries don't make a big deal of saint's days

Perhaps one day it may become a bank holiday clap

Hasn't that been tried before and failed.

Anyway, I will be having a few jars at home tonight with Mrs Erijaso to celebrate.

Most countries do celebrate some form of national day - often their indepedance from GB or in the name of their Patron St. What is wrong with having a national day? Be it in the name of a Saint or otherwise... Celebrate a little pride in the flag for once?

who gives a crap?

edit: to elaborate and not appear to be a troll:

what purpose does it serve?
what does it mean to people? (means nothing to me)
I'd rather have a bank holiday for my birthday than for St Georges day.

I wonder if the Irish will be making a fuss over it like we as a nation do on Paddy's day?

Who am I kidding!

Edit: Typo

My flag is up, I have a BBQ tonight and loads of spitfire beer to enjoy.

It's a ahamerhe country doesn't make more of an effort, but hey, we wouldn't want to offend anyone, would
we????

So here's a shame and I guess one of the reasons why St George's day is probably a long way from being a Bank Hoiday.

I wished a "Happy St. George's Day" on my Twitter account and suddenly got "followed" by a couple of BNP members.

We really need to take the "flag" back from these people.
