Irish Sagaris

I see PHer Funky is selling that lovely Sagaris of hers. Dribble.

Question: why would someone in the UK want to pay the additional tax? Surely the car has two prices - an 'in Ireland' price and a UK price? Or is this the cost to move the registration from Ireland to the UK.

Well hello there Unfortunatly there would be no choice for me only to sell it in ireland otherwise i will lose all the vrt that was paid. Its a major pain in the ass and is a huge reason the irish car market is in turmoil as it makes us pretty much the car graveyard of europe. There's no country we can sell a car to to break even or make a profit as there's no way to get the vrt (irish vehicle registration tax) back. Seeing as this was somewhere in the high 40,000 euro bracket it's quite a hit to take So basically once you import an unusual car to ireland and register it here it's pretty much destined to stay here forever!

Sorry if I appear dense, but does that mean a UK buyer would have to pay €40,000 on top of the asking price?

Nope not at all. The asking price is more geared for irish buyers because we pay so much tax. A uk buyer would just have to pay the 69900 euros but when theres uk cars out there for much less its not worth it for a uk buyer unless their desperate for a 2007 reflex purple sagaris

As you say Funky thats £62000 for a Sag - more than when new - piss poor state of affairs the import duty in ROI- I really think the Irish Government needs to look at this big time.
As you say its a graveyard job - move North my dear - its still the same island - and no stupid VRT. Although it looks like the 50 limits on the way!
On the plus side if there is someone who wants a Sag in ROI then yours is the one to get and for someone in your neck of the woods it would make more sense than buying in GB and then shipping over - good luck. Theres only one other anyway isnt there?

Bob - Yea i hate the way theres just no possibility of selling it in the uk. But that goes for all cars brought over. It really makes you think about bringing rare cars in because the market is so small. But then again if you love cars its worth it and im in no rush to sell it so its just out there if the right person comes along! If i was anywhere near the border then i would have no hesitation in moving but alas i am stuck right down the other end of this country! :P

It wont be replaced, well not for a while anyway. In a couple of years i'll hopefully grab a gallardo spyder! But right now i am more then overjoyed with the diablo and exige. Puuurfect combination =)
