My 996 TT has finally arrived! Insurance Question
Discussion
Performance Marque do a scheme whereby you are covered for PCGB trackdays. Call them on 0121 248 0911.
I seem to remember Buster had a very good quote, but I don't know what company it was from.

I'd be interested to know how you get on.

Hi John,
there are two little known specialist brokers that do large volumes of Porkers & the likes of AFN & Lovetts etc use them. Because of the high value of Turbos companies like NU direct can't insure them (they have a £75k ceiling)some of the others will not guarantee OPC repairs because of the high prices, so be sure they will cover this if you go elsewhere !
These guys will give you the best deal
1/ Is Cheam & the number is 01737-354377
2/ Is S plan & as the numbers in the office I can't give this to you until Monday.
Let me know how you get on, but I'm confident on these two for a TT !

During my first two years of 996TT ownership I was insured with Porsche insurance specialist FirstPoint who IMHO offered me a competitive and comprehensive policy for my car. However I shopped around (as I always do) when I got my renewal premium in this year. I tried all the specialist brokers who advertise in 991&PW ,PCGB Mag , GT etc and a few generalist brokers (Tesco's Priviledge etc) and was pretty amazed to get a quote from PerformanceMarque that undercut the cheapest quote I had from elsewhere by almost £400. I'm now paying sub £1k for my policy - £500 excess (£750 track day ) 6 years PNCD ; Tracker/garaged, sole driver, late 30's living in Gloucestershire; 3 points(SP50) & 1 no fault claim within last 5 years -policy underwriten by Sun Royal Alliance.
Good luck

Thanks for the replies so far. I've had some intersting quotes! 2 stand out at the moment - £2250 from Performance marque (and I don't have to garage it if I don't want to - important for me) and the other is my old TVR friends, Sunninghill - £1022.75 with £600 excess (6000 mile limited).
Thanks for that - I took your advice and went with cheam in the end - it wasn't the cheapest policy but with features such as fully comp to drive any car, anybody fully comp to drive mine, guaranteed value and tracker reduction I just thought those benefits were too good to turn down. They also insured it to stay on the drive until my garage is sorted with an agreed garaged date, which was the clincher for me. Thanks everybody for your help. Roll on Saturday!
Performance Marque (0121 248-0911) gave me (33, no points, car garaged normally) the best deal on a GT3 CS with £1240. Previously it was on a limited mileage policy as a 2nd car but PM applied the full NCD from my daily driver to the GT3 too and there is no mileage limit on this policy.
Good people to deal with also..........so far anyway.

Insurance is crazy!!!
It is against the law not to have insurance but there is no regulatory body overlooking the insurance companies who make money out of a legal requirement.
I tried PM for the Cayenne S and they quoted me £2,900-!!!! So I went to Tesco where I have a 2003 (53) plate 996C2 insured for £1,500 and they quoted me £1,100-!!!! An £1,800 difference with no change in circumstances. I'm 32 and my wife is 27, all cars with full 5yrs+ protected NCB's!!!!!
Must be 'coz i'm from sarf Essex mate!!!!!

I agree but I'm told it's the value of the car that makes all the difference, as you are probably all aware. I tried Tesco, I few people mentioned them but they quoted me £4,400! Their excuse was the value of the car had gone over the threshold (whatever that is set to). Anybody lurking who is in the car insurance game that can either agree/disagree?
