Ah, ha!

Just off the phone to a very nice, and flirty PA to the Chief Exec of a parking ticket company based in the city (London). I called up to enquire rather than rant and rave about a ticket I had received the other day. I spoke to the lady for around 5 mins and she blirted out ''what a lovely accent you have'' I knew I had her hook line and sinker by then and asked if she would kindly bin the fine - which she did hehe. This is the 3rd time I've managed to work my twisted ways with an English lass by use of accent. However are all English ladies crazy about the Scottish accent? (well, except Gordon Brown's..)

You seem to be able to both type and spell to a reasonable standard.

Were you adopted?

She was probably worried that you were going to find and kill her family.

Have you considered that she didn't understand a word you said and considered it easier, kinder and quicker just to humour you?

All I can say is that you will do well until the first Southern Irish bloke talks. hehe

Although I am Welsh I have a relatively neutral, mild Southern English accent (except when back "home").

The Americans loved it. biggrin

I used to work for a (great) Scottish guy. Being half Scots I understood him perfectly well. It was hilarious translating for him in Chinese/Thai restaurants. Thai people and Scottish people simply cannot understand one-another even when they are speaking the same language! hehe

Good on you man, whatever works for you.
I don't have any discernible accent but I do make Barry White sound like Beaker from the Muppets and the skirt seem to like that.

Being a glaswegian with a decent ammount of accentedness i tend not to pronounce any vowels, or consonants for that matter. It does help in getting things done, anyone who hears me thinks i'm going to stab them with a stanley knife and then mug their gran - not nice in a "ooh, you accent is lovely, i shall file you fine in the bin" kind of way, nice in a "give the man what he wants mavis, he sounds trouble" kind of way

I'm quite the opposite. Some of those Scottish weather ladies are so nice to listen to. Their voice is just mesmerising in a good way.
I would die for a Scottish accent. Although I can live with my Yorkshire one cloud9

There is huge variation in accent across Scotland, my wife has a very soft Glasgow accent which sounds fine, some Dundee and Aberdeen accents sound terrible on a woman but most accents from the Highlands, Western isles and Northern isles sound gorgeous.

I'd 2nd that - The ABZ accent is not nice atall on a woman.

point conceeded!

South african accent doesnt work on girlies at all well, nor chaps for that matter.. although I'm sure there are plenty of women who dribble over DiCaprio in blood diamond.

We should go out on the pull as a double act, it'd be hilarious!
