Hi, there’s a 4 day trip to the Ring leaving Sat 4th July 10am from the Midlands ( back Tuesday ) if anyone’s interested ?, we can meet on the way to Dover or just meet up at the port in Dover. The guy who is organizing it is Rob Clark from nurburgringers.net He’s a real enthusiast and his email is nurburgringers@googlemail.com

We are staying at a 4star hotel about 7K from the circuit and have 2x VXR8, 1x Monaro & 1x HSV Commodore going up to now.

I’ll try and get Rob to post more info on here if pos, costs, times, Itinerary etc

Be great if we could get more cars to come along

Cheers

Ian.

Only thing I would say is you dont want to be going on a weekend that attached to a BH or one were the track (I mean road) is open all weekend as it gets VERY! busy to the point thats its easier and faster to drive the surrounding roads.

Why stay in Bonn when there are many lovely hotels in the area surrounding Nurburg itself?

Have you checked out any other guided tour options? Seems a bit pointless staying 50mins away from the area when you can stay in the heart of the region and soak up the atmosphere!

Also a bit odd leaving on a Saturday? Why not leave on a Friday and return Monday?

I'm sure you will have fun whatever you decide

Ok answers to a few points raised on this trip. Why stay in Bonn, why travel on a Sat first the hotel we stay at if far superior in quality than anything close to the ring.2nd Why leave Sat and return Tuesday. Well as you say Sat and Sun are very busy on the ring, if you are there Sun and Monday you get from 1pm till 7pm on the Monday with a qt track... plenty of quality laps to be had then. Have you ever tried driving from the midlands on a Fri afternoon to Dover? enough said. I have been taking clubs and groups to the Nurburgring for years now and our tours have been fine tuned over the years so that everyone gets the best out of the weekend. If anyone would like to come on this trip you can contact me on 0121 602 2222 (rob) We at PBC Motorsport Limited take your safety very seriously, On this trip will be a fully equipped support car, full safety briefing before you arrive at the nurburgring. tour of the eifle region. Tour of the best spectator points around the circuit, Maps showing petrol stations cash points etc.
The cost
Car + Driver £499
Car + Driver + passenger £599
Car + Driver + 2x passengers £699

Tour with me and pay your own way - Hotel - £50/night - nice food and a decent bar and 10min from the circuit. Euro tunnel cost £48 last time round, Know the area so free of charge sight seeing... so long as you can keep up biggrin

ME, Jezz and a few others will be going over in Aug for the Cochen wine festival and a play round the ring if anyone else likes the place after going on this threads trip.

Are you & the OP talking about the same trip? OP says 7k from the Ring, you say stay in Bonn. Well, Bonn is a good hour's run from the Ring, if there's no traffic. Having been a Ring regular for about 10 years, I've done the run up to Bonn airport when I've needed to be back in a hurry.

No 4 star hotels near the Ring? Drive out of Nurburg and turn east on the 258 and within about 100m you'll stumble on the Dorint - 4 star and not much wrong with it, esp if you want to be in the Ring car park first thing!

Bah, I live over here in Aachen which is only a stones throw (ok an hour long throw) from the ring, and when you guys are heading over in July I'm stuck in Cork, Ireland installing a machine for my company (4 week long installation)....one of these days I'll get to meet up with some of you guys...

no worries, I'm going in the Yellow peril anyway and as its first time on track in a few years and first time to the ring I'll be going gingerly! biggrin

Actually, are helmets a requirement?

The ring still falls under standard German road rules in many ways, so (for cars) helmets aren't compulsory but are recommended wink

With the standard of some wannabe racing drivers you can encounter it's something I always have with me anyway, been a number of occasions where you are catching a much slower driver in front and they simply aren't watching their rear view as intently as you are hoping. Better safe than sorry...

yeah my issue being storage space, two lids are going to take up half the boot and well the other half needs to take her entire wardrobe even for a weekend...

I'll just take it easy and take in the experience wink

The bikers are back out in force with the better weather now too out here, so as always they're a bit, ahem - mental at this time of year, so extra attention needed in the mirrors wink

No he means he's going in the rollerskate. Stig with it being a convertible i thought lids would be compulsoryscratchchin wouldn't want you to go all the way and not be able to run.
