Unless watching the apprentice is the highlight of your social calendar she shouldnt have a problem with it.

If she were to get a snot on I'd suggest trading her in.

My OH is free to go out whenever she bloody well wants, and I get the same courtesy in return.

I've been known (on the odd occassion) to tell the missus i'm going out for a few quiet ones in the village, only to end up on a train to the City and coming home in a taxi.

My advice is

Do it more often, she'll get used to it then.
