T350 owners - Anyone run 245/40/18 rear tyres? or T1R's?

Can these be run without scrubbing for road use.

Got the 3.73 diff and moved up to 4.0ltrRR so fancied a little more rubber on the backs.
Running the new version of the racing red coil overs which have been set up stiffer than standard. My rears (Dunlop SP9000's) are at about 2.5 mm tread.

What do people think of the Toyo T1R's??

Someone must have a set of the Toyo T1R's?

I've read mixed reviews on them, some say the tyre walls are too soft, but i'm interested to know if due to the weight of tvrs, the soft tyre walls is not an issue.

I have T1-R's on the back of the Tam replacing T1-S. Need a good running in but seem to be OK now after about 5-600 miles

I had them on the TAM too but I found them to be very scary in the wet, excellent when dry. Now have eagles, better in the wet but not as good on dry roads

thanks for that i was considering the eagle f1's and the toyo's, not too worried about wet performance so the toyos are looking like the tyres i'll go for.

Anyone tried anything elsother than the goodyears, dunlops and toyos?

I currently have Dunlop SP9000's on the back of mine, which i found to be good but not a grippy as my old eagle f1 gsd3's.

How would the change to rolling radius impact the benefits of the 3,73 diff? seems like you maybe going backwards with that upgrade by increasing rolling radius or??

I`m running Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres on the rear (255/35/R18) and I`ve been nothing but impressed by these (its only been about 150 miles mind you..)

They certainly appear to be more grippy that the eagle F1's, I could easily loose grip in 2nd at full throttle around 3500rpm - the Vredestein don`t suffer this at all..

Drove a few miles in the wet and they were extremely good as well, plenty of grip and they take a heavy foot to break traction..

The profile increase will be pretty much negligible if thats what you meant. Your talking about a 40% increase on 10mm (245-235), 4mm. Would you recommend 35 profile then if i went to the 245's?

My mate has the same tyres on his evo 6 and they're unreal (changed from eagle f1's all round) he says they are much better than the eagles in all conditions.

I'm torn between the toyo's and the Vredesteins at the moment.

Could you fit 255/35/18 on the rear of a t350 with stiffer than standard suspension??

I've just bought a T350 with brand new 245/40 Toyo's on rear and 235/40's on front! There is no scrubbing but the car feels a little less direct to my last car running standard profiles. I intend to revert back to standard profiles although I may regret this decision if I start bending rims with the rubber bands normally fitted to the front! Although it may have a little less grip and feel more nervous I feel Tvr got it right with the standard fit, in regard to the feedback they give. I personally like a car to be set up with sharp reactions as apposed to the softer more forgiving feel these higher profile tyres add.

I've got 255/35/18 on the rears of my T350. They were fine with standard suspension but then the ride height was fairly high. I've now got Gaz Gold Pros fitted with a very low ride height (looks very cool!) and it's the same as before. If you hit a compression in the road it will scrub on the passenger side. Perhaps needs the dampers turning up a couple of notches.
I have notice more traction with these larger F1s on the back.

I have a mate with a modded evo6 and he said they were rubbish too. He said the tyre walls were like jelly. On v.hard cornering he was scrubing an inch up the side wall as they were flexing so much.

I went for a full set of eagle F1's GSD3's, standard front, 245/35/18 rear.

I used toyo t1rs & goodyear gsd2s & gsd3s on my old nissan 200sx & didnt find much between them.
Now running toyos t1rs on my cerb & i am happy with them.

I ran 255/35 T1R'S on the T350 and they scrubbed the arches bardly and filled the car with smoke! if your going for 245 it's surely got to be a 35 profile.

Think its probably more to do with the extra width rather than diameter.

Without this sounding like too much of a plug, I have a pair of virtually new 245/40 toyo t1r's for sale if anyone on here is interested? Or maybe a pair of virtually new 235/40's as I'm undecided about which to use on the rear of my t350 and need someone else to make the decision for me!!
