Well we did it. Drove all the way there, driving 61 miles, mix of country roads and Motorway and she behaved perfectly.

Got to test station with big silly grin to start with. biggrin There was even nearly an accident involving a guy on a motorbike who nearly fell off turning road to look

Met dave my tester really nice guy and he had a look round and appeared impressed with the standard of build and trim I think the fact I told him Id driven it 61 miles impressed him with my confidence in the car.

One silly, I'd forgotten 2 nuts on the handbrake linkage eek which he let me put on while it was on the lift.

5 or 6 minor points one of which was missing anti vibration clip on front caliper (wife ran down to nearby ford dealer to buy one) a brake pipe running too close to the steering column not actually rubbing but was too close in his opinion.

1/2 hour ish later in the carpark at the end of the test where we gathered a crowd of MOT testers who were on their lunch during their refresher training course again admiring looks, dave came over looked at what we had done. pronounced he was happy and would just go off and fill in the certificate.

Even bigger silly Grin. bouncewoohoo

Paul had a robin hood that had been dormant for a while and when he saw ours wandered over to dave and asked if he wanted to swap tests to which dave politely declined.

Thats the good part now for the bad part. Driving home with a silly if slightly disgruntled grin ( DVLA birmingham wouldnt register me as no appointment available) all was well back along the M6 and th M69 and the M1 just accelerating off the roundabout on the A46 went to grab 5th gear and the gearstick went loose. Managed to get off the main drag had a quick look underneath and it looks like part of the gearstick extension arrangement has fallen off grumpycurse

Oh well at least I have until the reg docs come through to get it sorted. Wife ended up towing me home as it was stuck in 4th gear. Good job we took a support vehicle

When i registered my Fury in 2004, i had heard nightmare stories of getting them Registered. I live in Oxted, surrey so went to Wimbledon , London ( usually a comlete nightmare of a place). I took a packed lunch and 3 car mags to read as expected so spend several hours just waiting to be seen. I was seen 20 minutes after arriving and the staff said is the car here? I said no, as they did not always want to inspect the cars back then. The guy said i do not live far from you, i will see you at your house at 18.00!!! He came down, said what reg do you want? I wanted an Escort doner age related 81 W, he said car was far too nice for that i will pull a few strings and get you a 1995 plate in relation to the Fireblade bike doner! Next day, i had my plates and was legal. Should get it done by Stoneleigh easily unless the system has changed massivley??

That sounds interesting lee however Id be happy with an age related plate as I have a private plate in mind and its available.

The one I really (TAN 60D) want I cant have for 2 reasons.

a) its a T plate and my donor is a K so because you can't make a car appear younger I cant have it.

b) its about £4k half the cost of the car just for a reg plate eek

That plate looks 1960's to me if it is exactly how you spelt it, so the only think holding you back is the £4K... If you play on the DVLA website you can normally find a fun plate for about £500. I bought a personal plate for my daughter for when she is old enough to drive (only another 10 years!!)
He name is Ella, and i got " E11AS F " for £390 inc. transfer fee which is £80 alone. Just need to save up now to get a Ferrari to put it on! She'll probobly get a Fiesta.... ;-)

OK update time.

Well here we are 3 weeks after SVA and we are registered. Even been out with family in car after fixing the gearbox

Had a bit of a torid time as we had scrapped the donor ( like we had been told by DVLA swansea) were told we would get a Q plate. furious

I had a conversation with the nice inspection lady at Notts DVLA and gave her a load of photos showing us stripping the donor etc. Got a phonecall 3:30 friday saying she was able to give us age related plate. biggrin

There was a slight mix up which meant I had to go and pick the paperwork up, so got an early finish today and drove over to Notts to pick up the paperwork. Got into the car to come home after collecting paperwork and checked the certificate and tax disc matched as someone else had a set that didnt. Imagine my surprise when in the reg no where Im expecting to see K*** *** i see **09 ***. Got a brand new reg biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrincoolsmokinwoohoo

Stopped at halfords on the way home as they were the only place left open got my plates made stuck them on fixed gearbox and went for a blat driving
