I got a statement of annual interest yesterday from Birmingham Midshires. I'd forgotten that I had an account with them and the amount of interest paid was £70. With great excitement I went through paperwork going back 5 years, the last time I used the account. Eventually got the passwords and accessed the account which has £1548 in it - what a result. I assume they must have been sending me annual statements every year but it didn't connect; my memory not being what it was. So I’m thinking of how to spend this "windfall" so maybe take a Med cruise next winter with the GF (I hope she'll chip in towards her share of the costs). Naturally, I'm not going to breathe a word about this find to her.

I was wondering whether anybody else would like to share their "good news" story?

I've just booked Jimmy Carr tickets and will be sat 5 rows back from the stage - perhaps not in keeping with the thread but I'm excited!

Just got a refund from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. Apparently I've been overpaying my VAT, so they've sent me a cheque for a tad over 3 grand....

I occasionally find the odd tenner crumpled up in a pair of my going out jeans.

Never mind 1.5k in an account I forgot about!

How about giving me 500 quid? It'll make you feel better about yourself.

Dave, of course I'll bung you a monkey. Will postal orders be okay for you? Or maybe I could bring around a couple of hookers for your entertainment. Now all I've got to do now is find two more PHer's who could use a quick £500. The competition has to be for the most entertaining use of the funds. Drop dead gorgeous women will of course be given preference.

The problem now is that you no longer have an excuse for doing lots of 'trying'!

Not to piddle on your fire, me and 5 friends went to go see him a few weeks ago. we were in the front row, dead centre. it was SO funny, we were heckling him and shouting stupid stuff out. it was a brilliant evening.
