Hi 8 months ago i purchased a dongle for my laptop, thinking that would get me on line where ever i was,or so i thought. i did everything i was told to start up .

Oh! no it doesn't work so phoned orange and tryed to remedy it, twice , then they said they would send me a uprated dongle which came the next ,so i tryed again ,no go so i again phoned orange and they decided to put me on GPS, which also doesn't work properly (very slow and loosing conection ) so i returned it to the shop i brought it from who said they would send it back to orange but in the mean time i was still paying for a service that i wasn't getting,so i stopped the direct debit, which inturn upset orange .

I said that i am not paying for something that i don't have thats my rights as a consumer.
Am i wrong?

As a Orange retail employee I wouldn't have accepted it back, not to annoy you, but ther eis nothing we can do with it... No idea where they would have or could have sent unless the manager had sorted it out. Perhaps there is a setting problem. People come in all the time time saying they dont work, but a simple setting change on comp sorts it out.

Dont ask me what this setting is I direct people to my collegue who has a degree in computer something or other and seems to be able to sort them all out! Were you put through to the FAX and Data team? is it for your computer or laptop? if it is for your laptop you perhaps could have taken your laptop into the shop and let one of the sales assistants ring through to our cust. serv team and have it sorted there. In the shops there is HSDPA so if it works in the shop, then there is nothing wrong with the dongle.

Orange will get peeded off as you are in effect breaking your contract, regardless of your troubles... hmmmmmmmmmm where abouts you based?

to be honest no, and there is two reasons for that, generally, HTC are generally reliable, and two, I have probably only sold two of them myself as when they see the price of them, they usually find the Blackberry's very attractive...

I suggest if people want to cancel their contract, do it in the corect mannor and not just cancel the DD because your only going to feck your credit rating up and your debt will be sent to debt collectors...

If I cancel i will be doing so properly....

There is already 1 person on PH that has had the same issues as me:

Echo on phone calls
Bad reception
cutting off during phone calls
ringing people and they can hear me but i cant hear them
ringing people and the phone cuts off before dialing them, have been told that they actually hear their phone ring once and then disconnecting
texts do not send half the time
text coming in do not register for up to 30mins

Not wanting a blackberry as I went through 4/5 of them in a little over 18 months as I used them to destruction and not wanting to do the same to a bold.

Price??? Mine was £10

sounds like it was a wrong 'en... Hopefully you will have more luck this time... I presume you upgraded over the phone then. The cheapest we can do it in retail is £48.50 and that is for a highest user.... so good price for you...

Personally I dont like HTC that much, think they are too fidlly, cant be bothered with the pen etc, looks quite fragile, I would have thought the Bold would have been far tougher, especially with the skin case so it takes the impact if dropped etc.

I know what your saying, but you know its entirly up to you what you do, but if your unhappy write to Orange and explain that you have never been able to get it working and that you think it is unfair that you have to pay for a service you cannot recieve, especially if this has been on going since you got it. what have customer services said about you not being able to get signal? Also, every time you speak to a CSR as for their name and extenion number so if you promise you something and dont notepad it you can refer straight back to them... Who told you to return it to the store? was it customer services?

To be honest the 3rd party dealer(I use this term for them, as the way some of them trade is sometimes very questionable) shop should have done a signal check and if it is not on 3g or 3G+(HSDPA) you really are not going to get great speeds if any at all!!! if they didnt, and you can prove they didnt(or more like, they can prove they did).

You see when you bought yours, there was no 14 day return policy that is currently implimented with all Orange dongles whoever sells them so they definatly should have done a postcode search when you got it!
