few weeks ago whilst I was in the pub a local boy racer decided to attempt a handbrake turn in the car park and whiped out my M3.... hit it so hard he moved it nearly 2 mtrs (in a car park lol). All credit to the lad he stayed and faced the music and his insurance have 100% admited liability.

Anyhow it seems its going to be uneconomical to repair as the chasis in the boot area has been moved 2 inches.. he hit it at 90deg behind the rear wheels frown

The good news is I have the car back and the wheels are still 100% straight and drives perfect so Im gona keep it and its gona become the track dedicated toy that I have been threatening it to become for ages smile

Basically I now have a free track toy M3 so every clowd has a silver lining

I hope you get a decent payment in order to find another car, your track car will be cool. You going to strip it right out or what?

How does it handle now Andy, given the shunt?

If you get any issues with the chassis then put the engine into a Caterham-type chassis eek

Take it to someone with decent 4-wheel alignment and see just how bent it is, take it from there. I'd be surprised if you can't straighten it out as part of a track car build process.

They are giving me £2600 and Im keeping the car... Im pretty much over the moon with that as its not worth much seeing as its done 160k.

The car drives exactly as it did before the shunt... Ive done about 300miles in it on the motorways and thrashed it around the back roads to make sure... I also told the insurnace I wanted the wheel alighnment checked which they did.

I will need to get a new rear bumper and might get a Fibreglass front and rear so I can remodle them... Of cause I will strip it out totally and slip some very lightweight seats I already have and might fit the AP 4 pots I have lying around and fab myself a roll cage for it.

I decided not to get another M3 as its only used for ferrying the kids around and I have a Noble for everyday use so its a waste... got myself a 7 seater merc with a V8 and all the toys instead lol... perfect for towing smile
