Noticeable difference between a GTO and GTO 3 ???

Looking for my first M12 and see a couple of GTO's that I like, but I was wanting a GTO3 so I had the 3.0L engine for future power increase.

Am I going to notice much difference in power between std cars as I could run the 2.5 while I have a 3.0l built.

Some would argue that the 2.5 is the better car due to less weight to haul around.
As Colin Chapman used to say to go faster add lightness especially in the corners.
