I'm sat here watching 'The Hospital' on 4od the episode about teen pregnancy as I was told it is a horrific eye-opener to the wrongs in the UK.

And this combined with a couple of other stories recently (50% Tax Rate, Too fat to work etc etc etc) has got me thinking....

....Are all members of society equal and should we all be treated equally?

Should people who have never worked a day in there life due to being lazy fat scum be entitiled to benefits and care?

Have people who have payed more tax or worked harder earnt more rights?

Should intelligence (IQ) be a factor in what you are allowed to do?

Should people who have contributed nothing to society have the right to vote?

I just can't believe what I'm seeing on this programme and how people are just abusing the system and bringing the country down. I see the same thing when I have to go to sigh on - scum shouting and whining that they aren't being given enough money.

I'm not leaning either way on this one but want to know what the PH brain trust think? Also I hope this will bring back the spirit of the old P&P.

Fire away.

Edited as I have just spotted the retard error in the title...

Yes they should, up until the point where they no longer deserve that equality.

I agree. Talking of 'The Hospital', many of the mammals on that show deserve to be kept on a farm with their own kind.

We are all treated equally to some degree.

If you gave up everything, or squandered it and ended up unemployed you are entitled to all those similar benefits.

Likewise if a scrounger won a few million quid then he would be subject to not getting his benefit, paying high taxes on things etc.

And I have no problem with the theory behind any of this.

However, I do have a problem in how it is currently administered.

Here is my manifesto :

-Flat income tax rate for all, whether you earn 10K or 100K you get taxed at say 25%, no allowances, no fiddles, just a plain 25% of your personal earnings. HMRC would be reduced to approximately 67 staff and a large computer.
-Compulsory sterilisation of long term beneficiary mothers once they reach 2 children. And because it takes two, the father will be pursued for money to reimburse the government.
-12 month limit on unemployment benefits
-Rigourous screening of sickness beneficiaries and then a limit on their benefits if not genuine or if the sickness is self-inflicted or they won't do anything to get themselves fixed.
-Less care in the community, more centralised asylums.
-3 strikes policy for criminals and then it's life without parole.
-Compulsory workgangs on community projects for unemployed or those indebted to the government for getting single beneficiary women pregnant.
-A total ban on Drum and Bass music.

If anyone had the balls to do this in the UK it would be fantastic.

We just need someone to knock all these cocky, benefit scrounging parasites back into their place.

Good point about IQ. Even better point about drum and bass.

Now could someone set up a credible double blind experiement that proves once and for all the popular theory of the inverse relationship between IQ and beats per minute they would be doing the world a big big favour.

Man, you live in a dream world.

Ban Drum and Bass? What are you thinking?

Hawk, you forgot to ban those 9o sec in the microwave type job foods. Other than that, and banning ALL D&B (some of it's ok) pretty much what most think these days I feel.

Is it not R&B that you want to ban?

All that is needed in this country is to scrap the European Treaty of Human Rights and establish some basic principles which you comply with or you go into an internment camp for an appropriate spell.(I hesitate to say 'concentration camp' because of the connotations.) Bring the size of government down to what it needs to be rather than an alternative way of life which it is at present. As you say, everyone pays tax, but it has to be scaled according to means. However, it needs to be at a lower rate so as neither to discourage enterprise nor encourage tax evasion. What has to stop however are the non-doms and others who earn millions and enjoy the benefits of living in this country but pay no tax, many of them cronies of this and previous governments.

Impose law and order. There is no point in going soft on ethnic minorities because all it does is encourage lawlessness in those communities, and the point of a multicultural society is that everyone gets treated the same. And however soft the police go on them, does anyone doubt that we are going to have our religious war anyway?

Most importantly - if you don't pay tax you don't have a vote - this corrects the one major flaw in democracy.

Currently Britain is in the position of a once great man, who is never going to recover that greatness, and is now living on life support in a nursing home. Are things going to improve. I don't think so.

Cock. wink

Everyone knows its R&B, "Bassline" and "Donk" music that needs banning.

Drum and Bass as a genre is intelligent and satisfying to those who understand it.

Drum and Bass as instruments provide the back bones to most modern music.

ETA - Society should treat you how you treat it, get out what you put in, this goes for benefits and social too.

Ha ha ha, well Riddler some consider there to be little stupider than fans of a specific genre describing their favoured style of music as 'intelligent'.

Mostly this is purportrated by Arctic Monkeys fans....

It should be so simple.

The more tax you pay, the better quality of service you get:

- Prioritisation on hospital waiting lists
- More chance of getting your kids into the school you want
- More 'weight' to your vote
- Better unemployment benefits if you subsequently lose your job
- etc

Would penalise the lazy and feckless, and would also discourage tax avoidance.

So I guess the answer to the question is "No". The more you put in, the more you get out.

Do you still believe all the city boy types (for starters) have 'earned' the ridiculous amounts they got,m even now it's been largely proven that they have mostly been selling pies in the sky to the detriment of us all? How are they (and in your world, their vote) worth 100x more than the district nurse's?

Those who haven't contributed to society should get nothing back from society (except maybe a condescending attitude from all!).

IQ shouldn't be used to judge people. There's nothing wrong with being stupid, not everyone is fortunate in that department - however there is something very wrong with being lazy and useless.
