I have just heard my little nephew, a wonderful little fellow, has been run over by a car in front of his house. Bothering you all with this is just a way to occupy myself while waiting on news; sorry.
The police are with the person that hit him. I do not know the details surrounding that bit so I can't comment.
He was laying on the lawn not breathing. His severed tongue and blood was blocking his airway. His aunt cleared the airway and set him to breathing. EMS came and took him to the local hospital in Port St. Lucie (Florida)Hospital which put him on a chopper and flew him to West Palm Beach. There is a level II pediatric trauma center there. Hoping for the best.

They are way ahead of me! Good news! He has a severed tongue and a broken leg along with being badly mangled; however, he is stable. I spoke to the trauma nurse who assisted with him. She was upbeat and said that he was very lucky and they were extremely surprised that no brain trauma occured despite his head taking such a blow. No brain swelling, all scans negative. He has a respiration tube down his throat but is able to breath on his own (the tube is there to allow blood and debris to clear). A plastic surgeon is on his way to repair his facial damage. He looks frightening, especially to his parents due to the superficial swelling. However, the "important things" all check out. We are breathing a huge sigh of relief right now. In a way, I am glad the word got to us a little later so that our wait for this news was not as long as those with him had to endure. I suppose an unscheduled trip to Port St. Lucie is upcoming.

good to hear that he bounces well Jim!!! Good news that there is no reported lasting damage!

Any idea what happened? One of those "kids playing ball in the garden and runs into the road to get ball" thing or did the driver do something wrong?

Blimey, just as well little kids are made of rubber isn't it?! Hope all goes well for the little 'un. If he's lucky he might even get away with some I'm-harder-than-a-car type scars for the ladies later in life too!

Good luck to the little fella, and indeed to all your family Jim, I really hope he comes out of this predicament as unscathed as is possible under the circumstances. Fingers crossed.

At least when he recovers he will have a sweet story for picking up girls! Even better if it was something rare that hit him.

Hope he recovers quick - All the best to you and your family

My thoughts are with the little guy Jim. Let us know what the guy who did it was playing at.

Phew that is pretty shocking stuff. Sure I don't know you Jimbeaux and certainly don't know the little one but am very glad he is ok! Hopefully the driver wasn't to blame for anything and it was simply an accident - over zealous little boy runs into road - nothing new there for sure smile

All the best to him - severed tongue sounds painful yikes
