Falling asleep last night, had my window open and was drifting off nicely. I then hear footsteps walking up our close and up towards our drive.
Now, I did't think anything of this, it's about 1am and the milkman's due. After the footsteps stop, I began to get a little suspicious because by now I've heard the clatter of empty milk bottles.
I shrug it off and try to drift back of to sleep. 2 minutes later, I hear a noise outside that sounds like something being knocked over. My immediate reaction is to check my old man's motorbike is okay. (I have this reoccurring fear of somebody just pushing it away in the night).
so I get out of bed and open the blinds. Nothing.
Just as I was about to go back to bed, two guys in hoodies walk round from the side of our house and walk back down the close. I knew immediately they were looking for someone's house to break into.
Unless you've ever been in that situation, you have no idea how you'll react. My first instinct was to shout but then I thought if I do, they know where I live and they may come back for a little revenge and trash one of the cars or something.
I watched them as they pointed at another house a few doors down and walked towards it. This was the biggest shock.
As they walked onto the neighbours drive, the HID security light came on, they didn't even flinch! It was like they didn't give a fk if the whole close could see them. As they walked towards the neighbours front door, I threw some clothes on and booted the old man out of bed. Both armed with torches, we walked around the close, checking the neighbours garden and others further down the round.
They'd disappeared so we gave up and walked back home.

Kinda make's you think though. They weren't bothered about making noise and were completely unconcerned about the security lights. Little sts, the lot of them. I decided against calling the police because they couldn't charge them with anything, sadly trespassing doesn't carry the death penalty.

I'm really angry now....

Maybe not, but a quick search resulting in a screwdriver and a pair of molegrips would be a noce touch of going equipped

True, but I think it was more about opportunity, a unlocked door or a window slightly ajar.

Yeah, he actually turned up 15 minutes later. He said he hadn't seen anyone though.
I didn't think it was unusual for the milkman to deliver at night.
