I have a small dinner party tonight and as I have a small kitchen (seats 3!) I was thinking of eating while sitting on cushions on the floor in the living room. I have a glass table top I can raise up with books.

Any suggestions for suitable recipes to match the theme? Starter(s) and mains(s) needed.

Middle Eastern or North African would also fit quite well...

Lamb tajin, cous cous, mint tea and a hookah to finish.

If you're feeling flush, get a couple of belly dancers in.

Lovely.

Roman theme? Togas, slave girls, larks tongues and a vomitoriumthumbup

Well, someone had already mentioned North African.

A chicken tajine with cous cous is simple enough, and tasty.

A hookah with some nice tobacco is recommended. I regularly spark up mine.

Why would you need a secret passage leading from a theatre stage to eat on the floor? wink

Thumbs up for the food, but whatever you do, if you go this route, do not try to serve any north African/Moroccan wine. (do they even make wine there?)

I've tasted what was described as 'authentic' wine made in the region and it takes a bit of getting used to. whistle

I think the Japanese theme would be fun (maybe more expensive), but the Moroccan theme more hearty.

Copious amounts of the local alcohol will make sure it all runs smoothly.drink
