Do the 'tell tale' lights for high beam and indicators
have to have a symbol? Or can i just use blue/green lamps
or LED's?
The car is 95 chim

Caterham's just have lamps on the dash.!!

Just a light will do although the indicators don't need a light if you have an audible tell tale.

Edited; Just checked and you don't need a tell tale for the indicators if you can see one or more light each side from the driver's seat.
No requirement for a tell tale for main beams.

I'll pretty sure the MOT just stipluates that some means on knowing the light has been triggered must be shown to the driver.
