Hi all,

It's been 46 months since my meeting with a drunk driver and 44 months since losing my deposit on a new VZ-CV8 (Oddessy). Been waiting to afford to get a Monaro since.

In the time since, there's been two new engines, a doubling of doors, a new chassis, the Americans have called the HSVs "an all American muscle car"???!! and now I can't afford a new one!

Mrs Trailermasher has been keeping me up to date (sort of) and I've spent the last four weeks, since the last surgery, just catching up on posts!

So, a hi to all those still here and to all new members, and I hope to see some of you at a meet this summer! (last meet I made it to was at Brighton 2005)

Also, to Caspy, sorry to hear about Greens, hope you are still around and doin' OK!

Cheers,

Trailermasher & MrsTrailermasher.

Trailermasher, it wouldn't have been an 05 odyssey from Slaters perchance?

Thanks for the welcome back.

In July '05, while driving a 40 tonne artic., I was hit by Transit van mad , it waas 5 am and the driver had just left the pub from the night before.

He managed to drive one of his chassis rails into the front tyre eek , spinning the steering wheel. It managed to wrap my arms around each other rotate . Being held by the seat belt, my right shoulder couldn't move with the steering. It was July '06 before the full damage was known. frown

I have had two tendons repaired, one practically severed, chunks of bone shaved and, four weeks ago, the end of the collar bone removed, which has, so far, had brilliant results. But bones no longer connect my right arm and shoulder to the rest of my body, just the muscles... err ... fat!

Still can't write properly, just started using a keyboard again type and am learning how to drive again, but after nearly four years of doing virtually nothing, physio will probably be another 6 months...

...but am still on some ace drugs sillywobblenuts .

Wolfracer, I was at Slaters the week before the accident and got to drive a red '04, I had serious brake fade by the fourth roundabout, but had to have one!

They got my/the Odyssey 'ro in around September '05 and sent me some lovely pictures. I believe they kept it as a demo car for a couple of months. I remember reading on the forum that someone was buying it, but can search back only two years of posts.

Was it you?

It was Slaters that told me about the HSV Drivers Club.

Broadslide, I'm in Carmarthenshire, beautiful part of the country, with some excellent roads.

I will be buying a Monaro/R8 wink some time soon thumbup , but if I get a manual, I might not be able to drive it for a couple of months.frown

driving Can't wait to be back on the road again. driving

Cheers,

Tr'asher.

Hiall the best of luck for ur rehab/physio
i'm sure u'll be back on the road real soon
sadly u'll already know that u'll pay for any gains at physio with increased pain
u sound like a tenacious bloke from (ur post) who's been fighting since day 1 so u've got the juice to do it mate
referal to a pain management clinic is a quick route ... its working well for me after 20 years of ops, rehab and the pills n potions

Trailermasher - I got an Odyssey VZ CV8 from Slater's in March 2006 - I thought at the time that they'd had it for a while so maybe it was yours , if so I traded it in recently at Slater's for a VXR8 ( heron white walkinshaw bi modal -I love it!!!)
When I was last there about 2 weeks ago my old car was on their forecourt for £13.5K. Its done about 26K miles and has Wortec electrically switchable catback fitted by Monkfish.
Sorry you've had a rough time Simon.

The van driver gave his company details, but once I commented on his booze breath, he drove off, trailing sparks under the van.

A police car turned up and went to look for him, but in the opposite direction to what I'd said. It took them 40 minutes to find the van, with a blown engine, a quater mile down the M40. His intercooler core was still attatched to my wheel studs, front cross member was bent up and over the n/s wing, sump and oil was on the road and green coolant stained everywhere within 20 feet! I was amazed it got that far.

The driver had done runner across the fields, but had left his ID's in the van. He had a bottle with him when he arrived home, police waiting. Don't think he was charged.

Hope he at least lost his job, he was a baliff.

Yeah, physio work can be very painful, but seeing a noticable improvement each week makes it worth it! Had a referal for pain management in January, but, with surgery since then, I must wait another six months before being referred again.

Mrs Trailermasher reckons, that if Simon's Monaro is the one I ordered, now back at Slaters, it must have been meant for me! Will have to give them a ring this week! Fancy the Wortec zorst! Trouble is, I've had four years to think about mods!!!!! It could get very expensive!

If I can get sorted, I might make it to Shakey's in May, but can't plan that far ahead at the mo.

Cheers all,

Trailermasher.

Bet those boy racers in their puny little Halford accessory magnet's have their eye's popping out when they see a girl getting out of the Monaro.

Have to admit, I've always loved the Mustang but now I have seen the Monaro I'm hooked. rotate
