Hi all.

A few years back I was left these two watches and am wondering if either of them are worth restoring because they are valuable or if I should leave them as they are.

The Seiko has Japan 7813 5009 T on the facia and its stainless steel.

The Omega says Swiss made on the facia and appears to be gold, there seems to be a hall mark or at least some kind of markings on the bit the strap fits on to and also on the clasp.

I dont know anything about either watch except the Omega was given as a retirement present in 1961.

Any thoughts please?

The Omega certainly. If you unscrew the back, the case reference number (for example 135.011) will enable you to tell whether its solid 9ct gold, or maybe gold filled, gold plate or even 18ct...

I wouldn't. If you don't know how, or more importantly haven't got the right equipment you could damage the case. A good local watchmaker will have the caseback off for you straightaway.

The pictures terrible, but assuming that the watch's in as good a condition as it appears then Id advise you not to touch it. A proper service will cost between £55 and £70 and itll come back working like new and looking as good as possible: Id be tempted to do nothing beyond that (and the watchmaker will be able to tell you the case number for nowt too).
