SHMBO & I took a taxi ride, about 10 miles, no problem.

Then I opened my mouth and said,that taxi was a toyota prius, wasn't it slow. She says it was OK, and aren't they really green and cheap to run and comfortable, I think we ought to get one.

Isn't the speed dictated by the driver? I don't know much about the Prius but I assume its capable of motorway speeds.

Mind you, you got a prius driving cab driver, what did you expect, traffic light grand prix and hand brake turns like Life on Mars

To rescue you from the Prius look at the Lexus hybrid, and the yanks seem to be building their SUVs in Hybrid form.
