What can I sling on the barbie?

Presuming you're using charcoal - when it's down to the last embers, throw on some beechwood twigs (it doesn't matter if these are green), follow with a couple of fresh trout and bung on the lid.
5 minutes each side = succulent smoked trout. I mash this onto bread while it's still warm.

No real need to cook corn before BBQing just wrap it in tinfoil with a good knob of butter and cook for around 10 minutes, turning occasionally.
Jalapeno, Scotch bonnets, caribbean red hots etc are all good on a BBQ just char the outer skin and enjoy.
Whole Mackerel is lovely on a BBQ. Just gut the fish and dry both inside and outside of the fish. Stick a clove of garlic in the cavity along with some rosemary, lemon, salt and pepper. Cook for roughly 4-5minutes each side.

I hate sausages on the BBQ, so I got a big old roasting tin and bunged it on, (took up about half the grill space) and chucked the sausages & some chopped onion in to brown in a bit of oil then chucked in chopped tinned tomatoes, a chicken stock cube, some torn up herbs from the garden, some baby broad beans and just boiled it down until the sauce was really thick and the sausages cooked through. Went great into some pittas.
