jaguar xk8 rear seats

Hi to all xk8 owners i am trying to find out how wide the rear seats are ,if any one can help as trying to see if they will fit another car i own.I need the width of both the seat section and the back support section the widest and norrowest on each part.Its the sallon type not convertable.

top of rear seat backrest 119 cm
bottom of rear seat backrest 112 cm
front of seat base 127 cm
rear of seat base 111 cm

hope this makes sense

I always used to think of my XJ6 as a 2 seater coupe where the back shelf was too damn far back to be of much uses.
Then I got kids :-(

A funny aside. My wife has never forgiven me for coming home with my Corvette in 1995 (which I have been trying to sell). She has relentlessly griped about how impractical the car is being just a two seater (among other various and sundry complaints). I agreed to get rid of the car when I found something I liked as well or better. I had always loved the XK8/XKR but figured these were untouchable in terms of what I wanted to spend. It was my good fortune to find out how reasonable these were used in the Los Angeles area so I told her I was getting a MUCH more practical car now with 4 seats. That worked for a while until I actually showed her the seats (which are seats in name only) and she laughed. But I knew she would pretty much agree with anything to see me get rid of the Vette.

On Jag-Lovers recently I had a conversation with someone who was saying his E-Type project had to go because of the arrival of a new baby. I'd commented that this seemed a bad president...
The next day he replied to say that no it was OK coz the new baby was another E-Type and that he had an arrangement with his wife about Jags. Years ago he'd tried to buy a motorbike to add to the Jag collection, and the wife had not been happy, she'd commented that she'd rather he had 10 Jaguars than 1 bike.
Sound like a good deal to me

They put them in as they get a discount on importation duties when shipped abroad, as do Mercedes SL's, Porsches, Etc.

Less duty paid on four seaters Vs. two seaters.

Hi All - I'm thinking about getting an XK Conv. I know from the Jag catalogue and previous postings that you can buy kiddie seats for the back but has anyone actually managed to shoe horn a little 'un in?? My kids are only 3 & 2 yrs old so I figure they stand a chance! Anyone had any experience? Thanks, Phil.

Phil,

The back seats are very cramped and it can feel claustrophobic( I have an XKR Coupe). Also your kids will struggle to see much out of the rear windows. Leg space in the rear is pretty much dictated by the leg length of the front seat driver and passenger. My wife is 5' 2" and she can pull the seat forward a fair bit and still have enough front leg room. This allows my daughter in the back (5' 5") but it is tight and she has said that more than 20 minutes would be too much to endure. You may get away with it as your children are smaller, but they wont stay that way ;-)

My XK8 had to go as my daughter got bigger. Kept pushing the passenger seat forward until my mrs had no leg room. Far more room in an XJS.
