I do the following:
Heat stone in oven to very hot (250C) for quite a long time.
Prepare pizza on a peel (just a bit of ply)
Open oven, slide pizza from peel onto the stone (pizza sits on a piece of baking parchment so it slides of the peel easily)
Close oven
Enjoy pizza 7-8 mins later (thin base).
