In time i may find out,but i have an annoying problem whereby i think the car runs a little rough on idle, just lumpy really, and not at all i think a v8 should be...... but i have no reference as to how these engines should be,so in the latest quest to find a problem, that to be fair may or not be there,i had the plenum off today to check for air leaks, plug connections to the injectors etc, refitted my original dizzy cap and rotor which was on the car when i purchased it just under a year ago now,and gave it a run,did seem to be better, but still on idle at traffic lights etc,the engine appears to miss slightly,at any other points in the rev range its smooth, and runs pretty strong really,so i doubt its anything electrical breaking down,as under load its great,so whilst out shopping for paint at my local retail park,i popped into halfords and whilst perusing the furry dice section i started looking at fuel treatments, and wondered if a dribbling injector was the culprit? do the injectors suffer from blockages or fail at reasonable mileages?,i cant remmeber if the car ran this way 12 months ago or not,but i was prob too gobsmacked to be owning such a toy to have noticed maybe, but i have the mot looming friday and need to ensure its running right for the emissions test,so i added some stp fuel injector cleaner to the tank of v power (the only fuel i use in the griff and my impreza) and wonder what folks think of these treatments,do they actually work? or is removing them and sending them away to be proffesionally cleaned the only way to do this, car has some mods, mainly precats removed, offords sports exhaust box,and the cam was changed 10k ago to a 218,which is supposed to be good at at idle,if no where else.....think i need to find a local 500 owner willing to show his car off to compare lumps....

Ay up Martin, you could come to Chatsworth tomorrow and you might find the odd Griff owner there (come to think about it most of them are odd, at least those on PH) it would also give me a chance to see the car I missed out on wink

Hows that then BB?.... managed to do about 15 miles yesterday after adding the cleaner, says on the bottle to add to a full tank,so guess it might take the time to go through that before i notice any difference,if any at all..... always thought the latest fuels,v power,bp ultimate were full of cleaning agents and that these cleaners were things of the past, but worth a go for the money i guess, strange thing really as apart from this small problem, the car runs great, prob in no small part to the parts ive changed since ive had it.....one other question, whats the concencus on the performance of plugs that have flooded at one point, been cleaned and then re used? are they ever any good again? had a cold start problem which was down to a dirty air filter and duff vac advance, all sorted now,but i did at one point flood the recently installed plugs, whipped them out and cleaned them up,just wondering if the lumpy idle may have something to do with that?......ill whack another fresh set in this week, but curious to the affect this may have

Rigga.. Your car is about 10 years old with all types of fuel put in the past... Petro additive isnt a miricle worker but it cleans the crap & carbon built up on your injector & valve seats over the years,, If your car has flooded in the past always change the plug,,, Best to put the recommended plugs in & not the cheapest in halfords.. Next thing on my list would be checking dissy cap & plugs,, Or take your car to a good grease monkey to plug it in to his computer
finding out the fault code.... Hope this helps GOLDIE

Goldie.... totally understand the age related thing, actually its nearly 15 years old now, always use the reccomended plugs, just wondered about reurecting flooded ones,as said i will bang another set in this week... so far in my tenure ive replaced cap and rotor, leads, dizzy vac, ignition module, air filter, plugs, some were faulty, some ive done any way as a precaution......

Fault code? never had any indication that there is one stored, does the manegment light have to show for that first?

RIGGA sad you all the way up in Birmingham.. got more than a few mate(GREASE MONKEY) I own a BODYSHOP.. Ive just purchased a Snap on lap top that sort out these different problems i hope it also turns out warning light & such like,
Sound like you have done all the basics (CHECK PLUG GAPS) ive cocked this one up before myself... In my mond not its got to go to a speciallist with a list of the work youve done, He will have to double check that you havent done anything wrong but this will be cheaper in the long run... Use the petrol additive first on a complete tank not just 20 miles ,,,, GOLDIE

Sorryboxedin I thought you meant the injector cleaners that you have to take the injectors out and put them in the cleaning machine that cleans them smile
