First couple of shots with new DSLR.....

Well after going on and on at my O/H for almost two years now about wanting a DSLR, i finaly bit the bullet and made a deal with myself yesterday. I decided to give up smoking and as an incentive i thought the money i'd save would pay for the camera, so i went out and bought a 1000d with kit lense(is). I was going to get the 450d but as i wanted a tripod and memory card i decided the 1000d was a better choice at the minute.
Anyway, enough rambling, here are a couple of 'shots' from yesterday. C + C Welcome. Bear in mind i'm still getting used to the cam.

Thanks, i was inspired by the thread on water splashes. I was suprised to capture that on the third attempt. Just need it slightly sharper now. Next on the to do list is ink swirls in a vase.

Nice one for buying it before you've saved the money rather than after - that means in a week or so you can start smoking again and you can keep the camera!

Ha ha i hope not Dobbo. Something my partner and I wanted to do for a while and this seemed the perfect solution. Loving the cam so far, getting used to it now. Here's another from this morning. This little critter was just begging to be 'shot'. He kept hovering right in front of me.
