Can you beat this freshness?
Discussion
About an hour ago I went fishing in the river 300 yards from home. Within 10 minutes I had a 1lb Brown Trout in my swag bag and 30 minutes after that it was eaten*.
Anyone beat that in catching and eating?
*gutted and filleted, a bit of fresh lemon juice and some knobs of butter, seasoned, then grilled skin side down for 3 or 4 minutes. Served with wild mushrooms sauted in butter with chopped spring onions.

I think I can. There are some quiet areas a short way up the River Stour from it's mouth to the sea, where sea bass school.Anyone beat that in catching and eating?
Took a picnic and bbq along to the 'beach' alongside the river. Told the kids to get the BBQ lit and up to temp. OH looked on quizzically - "are you sure we should light it before we actually have any fish?".
Oh she of little faith!
When it was up to temp, a short cast, wait 60 seconds and the rod tip starts to go. One after the other, nice young bass - about 12" long - caught, gutted and straight on the BBQ.
Yum!

And with a 4lb Bass, why bother with the BBQ. Soy sauce and wasabi only???

Whilst I can't beat either the spider-eater or 10PS in terms of freshness and time-to-plate, I have got this little piggy growing in the back garden of a mate's house....

It's a Berkshire rare breed, and I know its provenance and exactly what it's being fed on. Last night it had a supper of mango's, pineapple, and other fruits to supplement its daily feed...
