Just got my new 4.7 vantage this week and have already had to have the piano black gps centre consol housing replaced as it rattled worse than apollo thirteens re entry.Any way its replacement is much better but when getting some revs on or using a rougher b road its rattlin like a good un again.Any one elses doing it, is it common place.Or do i put it down to character and turn up the sterio.

Console is multi panelled, i.e. the upright piece is separate from the horizontal bit around the gear shift. There is supposed to be tape in between them to stop metal vs metal rub and rattle. Might need replacing or doubling up. Had mine done recently and it's miles better than it was, although there are some rumbly bits of road where I still get it, notably when the car is cold, less so once it warms up and I guess the parts expand a little

I've done extensive research regarding this with my Vantage. Found a fix that seemed to work for a period of time.
1) Sit in car and attain a 'normal' driving position.
2) Extend left arm to full extension - practically touching the windscreen (approx 300mm above console section)
3) Turn hand through 90 degree in an anti-clockwise dierection.
4) Curl digits towards palm of hand and rest thumb on first digit
5) Move arm, rotating from the shoulder through an arc as if to stop at 400 mm below initial position.
6) After contact has been made with the offending panel, lean forward and listen. If noise is still present either repeat parts 2) - 5) or using same said hand, grasp circular knob on radio and rotate clockwise! (third alt is open boot, remove fuse 22, and drive with windows open)
I trust this will be of great benefit smile
