M3 SMG WONT GO INTO GEAR

HI..ANYBODY NO WHAT COULD BE WRONG WITH THE SMG ON A M3 CSL THE IRST GEAR JUST KEEP FLASHING AND WONT GO INTO GEAR,ALTHOUGH I CAN HEAR IT CHANGING GEARS BUT IT WONT GO..

Get it diagnosed by a garage with a GT1 or Auto Logic, SMG has its own fault codes.

Sounds like bad sensors, or maybe the gear actuator itself.

You sure the bonnet isn't open??

If it is closed I would check the switch before doing anything else, these cause this and are notorious.

Try leaving car for hour and retry, can you hear the hydraulic system start up when opening car? you can manually prime system by locating the pump relay in e box on nearside under bonnet it would mean taking top of relay and pushing contacts together

OMG!!!I DID LEAVE THE BONNET SLIGHTLY OPEN CAUSE I TOOK OUT THE FRONT GRILLS TO MATT BLACK THEM,AND DIDNT SHUT IT ALL THE WAY WHEN I WANTED TO MOVE IT...

JUST CLOSED IT FULLY AND GUESS WHAT....WORKS...THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH...

Did that with mine a few weeks ago and had a me a few minutes of panic until I noticed the bonnet wasnt shut properly

Good work with the bonnet catch. It's good when a potentially ruinous problem turns out to be no more than a door not closed fully. BMW would have been happy to charge you an hours labour for that...
