Gaz Gold Pros - or alternatives

As my T350 is now 5 years old and still on the original shocks I think it is time for a change. The ride is very crashy and on B roads it's jittery and bouncy to the point where 50mph feels about the safe limit!!

If I had the money I would go straight for Nitrons, but alas I don't at the moment and I need the shocks doing now. So, alternatives? I've seen some good comments regarding Gaz shocks on here recently and these are the first choice at the moment.

I'd be interested to hear from those who've bought them recently as to how they've performed. I'm aware they're a 'budget' option, but are they an improvement over standard? Are there any issues to beware of? Are there similarly priced alternatives that I haven't considered?

Just done 3000 miles since having Gaz Gold Pros fitted in February and after a bit of tweeking they seem to be quite an improvement over the originals which had only done 7000 miles.

I'm about to get Gaz Gold Profs over Nitrons. I was advised by people who know that if you're doing serious tracking, Nitrons were better; however, if you're not, you don't need to spend the extra money, so go for the GGPs.

I'm sure there will be many different opinions, though!

I thought one-way Nitrons were very reasonable ? - about £1500 fitted and set-up/geo'd? ...also rebuildable and servicable every few years for like £50 a shock..so if you use them a lot, you basically have shocks for life

Ive no experience of using Gaz....I always thought they were a budget brand that you put on your tuned up Corsa etc...not your luxury sportscar LOL (no offence intended - its just a perception thing!)

At the top end then Dynamics or mid-high end Ohlins start about £2.5-5K for proper 3 way stuff (too complex for me and a waste unless you race IMO)

I would have thought putting some £500 shocks on your car, you may as well just replace the originals with new ones as they are better quality than that surely? or are the originals truly shocking ? (pun intended)

Thanks guys. The 'budget' thing is what I had heard too, but I have also seen some good reports and quite a few people lining up purchases recently - I'd be interested to see what people think who've fitted them recently.

Point taken about the Nitrons and as I said, I would fit them tomorrow if I had the dosh, but with impending insurance and tax renewal, and service, and trip to the south of France, I don't!!

Regarding track work, I do plan to track it at some point, but we're talking a couple of track days a year; I'm not a hardened track nutter, or a racer.

Iv had Gaz Gold Pro's fitted to my T350t last week 22nd April. £699 fitted from Track V Road.
Such a difference. Much much more confidence through corners and at speed!!
The car feels so much more planted even though the ride height is still the same. I think its the re-bound that makes the difference.
Easy to adjust, just the need to get on the floor, simples!

Also consider Bilsteins, not as expensive as Nitrons.

Interesting - are these adjustable or are they just a replacement for the OE dampers? And would they cure the car of the jitteriness?!

Not adjustable and a repalcement for the OEs. Will make the car feel less harsh and will be fine for a few track days per year.
