Does anybody know anything about this car? It seems too cheap.

Hazzard a guess at an mr2 replica
Why? For one, it would extremely overpriced for a replica, even a mint one ... two, as far as I know there was never any kit done for the 348. They saved that for the 355.Here's my view:
It's a very early model and has reasonable but not silly mileage. £20k is not ridiculously cheap, but certainly at the very bottom of what you would expect.
I suspect the current keeper of that car is not too clued up on Ferrari 348s, in fact I know he isn't as the n/s rear wheel is on the wrong way around ... which assuming the other side is also the wrong way around and the tyres are directional, could mean a new pair of rear tyres is required.
The car looks ok, but not as if it is kept in pristine cherished condition.
The surroundings do not look the most salubrious for a private ad.
All this adds up to a cheap car. If it flys through an inspection though you will have a very good buy. Mine would be a lot more than that. I am also in East Yorkshire and am a bit surprised that I don't know that car. I would be happy to go with you to take a look, or even show you round mine to give you a benchmark.

Have seen them around this price before
Not that often though Scott. Having said that, there is another one at even less money which is a year younger, although it has been privately serviced and it looks very much like that guy doesn't know which way his rear wheels are supposed to go on either! It is however LHD which are fetching more than RHD at the moment.
Like I said, if it is in even reasonable condition, it is a chance to get one at bottom dollar money. Usually, they are a little shabby at this price point though.
The 348's have reached their base point and will only go upwards now. There are not many available, 16 in Classifieds versus 52 355s and 84 360s. A VERY under rated car.

Gotta be said, if there was £19k sat in my bank looking for a use, I would be twitching right now

I do like the 355, but the 348 will always be the choice for me

Looks like it could be a good buy on first appearances.... though an inspection really is essential.
Theyre simple enough cars.... but some of the parts can be fairly pricey.
A good one really is lovely though. Very sweet engine, great to drive and surprisingly quick. Of course, they're never going to beat a Mondeo in terms of ride quality but, somehow, I reckon I could live with that...
Shame its not LHD!

Thanks for the advice guys.
I had put a deposit down on another Z4 however it fell through after a disagreement over service history. Now I'm looking for something else, I was looking for another Z4, Elise or poss older 911. I would love a 348 and this one is a couple of miles away from me and in my price range. I'm just worried that it is too cheap and I would be scared of big bills, although I can probably afford to look after it properly.
Thanks for the offer Al, if I grow a big enough pair of balls to go and look at it I will let you know.

Shut it Fitzy old man

Happy to have a look Simon, then you can take Michael (Talkwrench) for a proper inspection. He inspected mine when I bought it and looks after it impeccably (just done a full engine out cam belt change and service).
It costs nothing but petrol and a couple of beers in a local pub afterwards ... we would naturally take my 348

Don't take any notice of a man who comes out wih crap like this!Just buy it and enjoy it! New engine out of a write off is £3k Not exactly a massive bill even if the biggest part blows up. You know you want to

Don't take any notice of a man who comes out wih crap like this! Most recent UK LHD cars have gone to European buyers, and quickly, and for a premium. Even Blueyonder's Chimaera (RHD) got three calls from France and went to the first one for over 10% more than he would have expected from a UK buyer.
You don't need to get so precious, I am not saying either LHD or RHD is better than the other, that is personal preference. All I am pointing out is a pretty obvious economic fact. A bit blinkered to dismiss it as "crap".

I thought you'd have spotted our on-going and pointless TB vs TS and the red vs yellow and the LHD vs RHD feud had been resurrected in a mild attempt at comedy there Al. Should have accompanied it with a smiley or something;)
Hi
I owned one about 5 years ago and sold it for £22k against a £24k purchase. HOWEVER - Cambelt service and some other stuff cost £2200 and it was a good solid car with no obvious problems.
If it's a good car you'll have great fun at the money. It's not nearly a accomplished as a 355 or as pretty as a 328 which is why they find themselves where they are in the market. Dynamically it's well ahead of the 328. In a strange way I found it a great car becase it was a bit flawed. If you want planted germanic perfection get a late 911 instead perhaps.
My solid advice would be to run it past a specialist first and even think about a compression test that could flag up impending doom.
Good luck and hope it pans out for you. I loved mine and have no regrets at all in having it. Come to think of it, I miss it!

Ah, now I did wonder but wasn't sure, so for the sake of the OP felt I had to reply.I thought you'd have spotted our on-going and pointless TB vs TS and the red vs yellow and the LHD vs RHD feud had been resurrected in a mild attempt at comedy there Al. I don't think me and you have ever had a red/yellow, roof/no roof, RHD/LHD feud Dave ... mainly as I have had F348s in both red and yellow, roof and no roof, and RHD and LHD

Great cars and it's amazing how uninformed doubters suddenly change their mind once they go out in one or even follow one.
