Do all 4 need to stage at the same time, and then the tree goes for all four....or is it a case of 2 races taking place at the same time.

Awesome though, just imagine 4 fuel cars.

what a waste of time and money, as for 4 TF, that just wouldnt be safe - to say the least

For who? fans get to see some very exciting racing; waiting times are reduced for racers; an oil down on one track doesn't mean an end to the racing while its cleaned up. Seems like a good deal all round to me

Why? running 4 cars on two tracks isn't inherently more dangerous than running two cars on one track

Its not a 4 lane track, its two tracks side by side; there is a concrete dividing wall down the middle the same as we have either side of the track. As long as they have the requisite number of safety personnel/fire trucks etc for a 4 car race then that shouldn't present any more of a problem, in regards to safety, than a two car race.

thankfully we wont see it here anyway, it looks (frankly) stupid, a drag race is a contest between two vehicles, always has been, always will be... somethings shouldnt change

Q1. ref safety, how would safety crews/ambulances get to the two middle lanes to an incident with 2 or 3 concrete walls to get over....

Q2. at 0.36 in this vid i see a photographer stood on the concrete wall between the two centre lanes, id guess taking press photos in lanes 2 and 3 would be impossible.....

The same way as they do now! it would be logical to assume that with two tracks there would be two safety teams, one to each side. It would be hard to imagine someone designing a set up like that without having access from both sides

I wouldnt assume theyve covered that

also, why have 4 lanes/2 races at a time when we are in the biggest credit crunch since the 20's, if fields/entries fall the last thing you want is half the number of shows/runs,etc....

mind you, we could get through a weekends racing bewteen showers faster.........

it still is in 90% of races...

hardly economic sense to build 2 strips side by side when the economic forecast is wet and windy...

but could make it quicker to get through the ladders, why not 8 lanes, job done..

In the US, big bracket race fields are bursting most week nights for testing and big events on most weekends. With buy backs, big round monies and pro bracket racers contesting these events it makes perfect sense. Some people out there finance their racing and some make a living at it. To carry on attracting those racers it makes sense to have the option of running both strips, either to get through numbers or have alternating lanes for track prep.
