Fair Ground, who recals
Discussion
Who recalls the fair Ground rides with the Go-kart track running on metal tracks over by the Dunlop Bridge, It was about 2004/5 and it must have been the most lethal ride Ive ever had the pleasure to ride on, you would never get away with having something like this in the UK.
The 1st time I saw it we stood next to some Geordie guys in there fifties laughing their heads off and they said watch this, and they had a bottle of Beer they shook up and sprayed the 1st corner with beer and you can imagine the mess it made when a over packed gaggle of karts came screaming up to the 1st corner on rubber tyres on a wet metal track it was absolute carnage people flying out of karts and all sorts ( if you was one of these unfortunate drivers then I apologies ) but this was the funniest thing I ever did see. When we eventually built up the bottle to have a go our selves it was a ride to remember not only because we all came out disfigured in some way or other.
It’s never been there again since and was just wondering if anyone had any idea why ( meyabe teh Geordies killed it off )?

Same year, did anyone go on the vomit/terror inducing spinning around thing that had rectangular 'cars' spinning counter clockwise whilst the platter it was on rotated clockwise and tilted up to about 45 degrees? I was looking at the one bolt holding the loose 'safety' bar in place that was holding mine and two others weight and stopping us becoming very implanted on the people opposite us.
That was a horrible ride.
The Booster however
(there is one on Brighton Pier!)

The Booster however
(there is one on Brighton Pier!)never went on that one but my freind did and chucked on the ride, not nice. The other ride they had was one that you sat on the out side with no saftey belts and it went around in circles whilst hopping up and down this was a great laugh but anything loose like wallets and fipflops forget it they disappeared under the ride.

Didn't see that but we went on the bumper cars in 2005 which were down by the Dunlop Bridge. Think it was nearly dawn and at about 7am most people on it were well spannered. Me and a mate kept double teaming on the foreigners. I remember a Dutch guy trying to roll a joint as he sat at one end all on his own.....not for long. Two cars barrelled into him and sending him and his joint flying. He eventually got out not at all impressed.
Not seen the bumper cars since.

Going back a few years, the fair ground was past the Dunlop bridge and half way down to Tetre Rouge. It was full of bars, shotgun shooting, climb the wobbly ladder, strip shows, motor cycle death ride and many food stalls. The sights and sounds added to the atmosphere,I miss it all accept the go-carts where I took a few alcohol fuelled death runs, good to watch though.
The drunk british chap in front of me was having the mickey taken by the french owner of the shotgun stall one night, the brit decided to spend his last rocksalt round by shooting at the frenchman's nuts and then doing the legs which was one of the funniest things I've ever seen, it needed the Benny Hill music.
The Wall of Death guy, then one with the 'tache, took my dad for a spin around the wall with him on the handle bars.
You wouldn't get away with that now.
The first time the bungee jump was there, I did a nude drunken jump off the crane. I felt sorry for the guy next in line, who had to wear the harness after me

The track was barely wide enough to fit two karts side by side. When the session was over a metal gate just swung out into the track for everybody to pile in to
We also saw somebody fall out onto the track
