Hi everyone,

I need to find a car for a very good friend of mine - she's just been made redundant and needs transport. Preferably cheap to insure and fuel, reliable, and not more than £700.

Prefer it to be reasonably local to me so i can get to see it evenings this week

Has to have a good long MOT.

Any help gratefully received...

scratchchin

Cat's Fiesta needs to be sold at some point. Around 50,000 miles, mechanically very sound, cosmetically not so great but it's a great runner.

I'm too slow! hehe

there's nearly always one on the A30 between bagshot and camberley on the LHS - usually about that price - it was a volvo estate yesterday

before you get to it from bagshot .. about half way up the hill if I remember, on the left. it will be parked on the verge facing the road .. they always look reasonable!

Pete - from Bagshot towards Camberley - go past the Garden Centre (on the left), then a pub on the right, and you'll then come to a few houses on your left-hand side. There's always one parked up in front of one of them. if you get to the car wash place (on the left) which was an old petrol station then you've gone too far.

Any of the ususal suspects would do the job - 106, Saxo, Cinquecento, Fester, Corsa... Think I'd be tempted to go Jap given the brief - reliable(ish) at this pricepoint.

Micra

Another Micra

TBH I'm not finding much out there, so I'm going against my own advice...!

AX

PX 306 at Alexander David A bit more pricey, but I don't imagine they'd peddle tat, even a 'PX to clear'.

ASDA might be worth a punt.

Cheapest car I have had (well, the wife actually) was an old Fiat Uno that was advertised on the notice board at ASDA. We were only going to keep it 6 months or so, but years of merciless thrashing and it just wouldn't die biggrin

Nice bit about supermarket noticeboards is that the car has to be local too.

Am surprised you can't find anything yourself on Autotrader by just setting it to £500-1000. That's how I got my Golf.
